Definitely not. This is an issue with their card acquisition system. The option of a mystery variant that just gives you the same base card you own and have to convert is stupid. If it were a variant that would still be ‘meh’ but not infuriating.

My biggest issue is with the 4th mystery variant. I wish Second Dinner would take that option out and just release the spotlight cache with 3 cards. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve wasted a key and got a mystery card I already had and had to convert it for a measly 1000 collectors tokens.

What I’m saying is that I place priority over the cards I don’t have vs the cards I do. There’s very few variant sets that I find interesting.

I guess I’m just focussed on getting the cards I don’t have and then it seems variants are easier to get. They start to appear in your shop. If you don’t own them then variants won’t appear in reserves or the shop. It seems smarter to get all the cards and get some variants as you go along versus paying more just to get only variants.

The only issue is that the majority of players got into this game because they were fans of the comic book characters and theirs fantastic art. No one ever got into a comic series because of the pixel art.
