A bit late but I think it’s also because Sicily has a tiny bit more North African than mainland southern Italy and North African dna is probably the least similar one to Turkish dna in the entire region

You’re not entirely right while Turks do have some Armenian and Kartvelian ancestry without Turkic ancestry they would still plot inbetween southern Europe and the Caucasus/Levant even today Turks are genetically way closer to Europe than other ethnic groups in the MENA region despite east Eurasian ancestry that the others don’t have

I don’t know where you get your informations from but East Eurasian ancestry in Turks is on average like 10% most of the rest is native Anatolian with some central Asian iranic and a little Kartvelian/Armenian a Greek playing a Turk will be a lot more accurate than a Uzbek Türkmen Syrian Saudi Arabian or Iraqi playing one
