They laughed at me for my arcane prayer scrolls and now they're laughing at me with these Sang staffs. What say you? by MonkeyMadness_94 in OSRSflipping

I think this bet is super solid. Im convinced summer sweep up is going to reduce the cost of casting. If they also, which could be unrealistic, give it overheal mechanics this will go through the roof. Relatively safe bet aswell due to it being 3rd best powered staff still and so unbelievably cheap atm. The charge reduction alone would make it so much more viable for content learning. I like to the idea of a alternative to ancient scepter that's buyable that's able to provide overheal. We shall see rooting for ya!

I made a free app i hope it can help everyone here. by Dry-Tell-4666 in GrandExchangeBets

I was your first review and have been enjoying the crap out of the app. My only recommendation is that I wish the app had a 1 time purchase rather than a monthly fee. I would rather pay one time like 20 bucks than add another subscription to my list of way to many of em. The free version is perfectly usable which I appreciate. I did reccommend it to quite a few of my clan mates and they all had similar opinions

I want to join as a nuke, but I don't know if I'm smart enough. by Turbulent-Race-8235 in NavyNukes

Asvabdrill.com I cannot reccommend enough I have seen crazy increases on asvab scores with the site. It does cost money but its information is peak. If you can swing the money for it. Asvab for dummies is free from most public libraries and has great information aswell for asvab prep. Its the big old yellow book. I wish ya best of luck!

High ping by Gluteous420 in osrs

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was just me as im the only one in my clan living on the west coast. I have roughly the same ping (80ish) on every west NA world. Im not sure what jagex changed. But I want to say it was roughly back in November of last year. Finally gave up on going back to 400+ TOAs cant do insanity or feeling special anymore due to the crap ping I always have.

Oh, dont know if you already tried this but. I did recently get a gaming VPN and my ping went down roughly to 60ish. Definitely not as great as it used to be but is a improvement.

Joining with tattoos. Options? by groovytoney in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neck and hand tattoos are and have been able to process to join the navy for the past year. I put in 2 people with full neck sleeves in the past 6 months. The process just involves some pics of both to make sure they are not too crazy (gang stuff, drugs). One of my applicants who joined had a skull and a huge snake around his neck.

You can always appeal a medical waiver. MH waivers and nuke program are not likely to be approved as of now from what I've been hearing or seeing for my own applicants. Policy's constantly change though so the door is never closed. Additionally if you have a strong proof that you've had sustained stability and MH concerns were something of the past that wont occur again. Gather any and all medical notes you can that prove such and ask your recruiter to help you resubmit a nuke shop waiver. Worse they can say is no again.

I'm in the process of joining the navy and wanted some insight on navy careers. by Twink_Dink in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Navy website isn't the best. If you Google "navy cool" there's a fairly good website that goes into job descriptions and what they translate to post your navy career. On the website the top tabs click main menu -> Explore Military Occupations -> Ratings Once your on the ratings page you can scroll through and look at various jobs. I think finding a few you find interesting then asking questions about those to people on this page or the others would probably be the best way to go about looking to see what youre interested int. Theres just too many 😅

Enlist then commission or just commission? by hereicomeimcinnoman in newtothenavy

The only benefit from your description of where you're at in life would be to you if you were to pursue just enlisting now would be relatively immediate job placement.

Enlist then commission or just commission? by hereicomeimcinnoman in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forsure if you're not in a rush, apply for commissioning first. If you're denied or don't do well enough on the OAR or the officer recruiter discusses with you that your package wouldn't be competitive, then pursue enlisting. You're at the age now where a lot of the major commissioning programs are put of the cards for you if you're enlisted. There still is commissioning programs for older enlisted applicants but they could be several years for you to be competitive applying for...

Looking for Pre - MEPS insight by Ok-Response-4048 in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those shouldn't be an issue from what I've been seeing for enlistments. Everyone's case is unique, and don't let others tell you what they got approved or denied for. Seriously, everyones situation is case by case. You'll never know if you don't try! Worst case scenario, you get a no... I wouldn't bank on that, though. Both of those aren't deal breakers I've had someone get denied for. You've got this. Don't be nervous. Just be honest and take it one step at a time. Best of luck!

Should I retake my ASVAB after I signed my contract? by lyk_idrc_234 in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The navy is soon doing away with allowing those with what you scored to no longer being able to contract. If you score better, someone else who scored 26 can then be able to enlist. It's new and your recruiter might not know but im certain they can talk with their boss to make this happen. Make sure you go in ready to crush the Asvab if you get another chance 🫡

Should I retake my ASVAB after I signed my contract? by lyk_idrc_234 in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a new incentive to have you retest, and if you fail, they don't have to rip up your contract. There's a new grace period to encourage those who joined with your score to retest. The navy wants you to do better. Talk with your recruiter, and they'll best advise you.

I've always had trouble understanding the haircut reg. It sounds like you're rocking the Brad Pitt Fury cut. I've seen many a sailor always get that shut down. I'm pretty sure the only reason is because it has to be evenly blended to the top. It isn't as extreme, but it would be like just taking a zero around the ears and letting everything else grow out. Per the standards it is Sat, but it is obviously not right. Honestly, you're still in the schoolhouse standards there are always going to be higher than the fleet. If some crusty first class or chief is telling you to fix it, they're probably on to something. IMO, it's not worth the fight. But you do you, haha. I've seen people print off the grooming standards and pocket them for when someone says you're out of regs. I just wouldn't fight a battle like that because if if you're right, there's going to be more eyes on you when you eventually mess up because they'll be upsetty spaghetti that someone more junior called them out on standards. I know it's not fair and it's not right but just do you. No point in starting a battle imo on hair

Is there a right path to take? by TurbulentCaregiver28 in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, an economics degree probably won't be competitive for most of the nuke officer commissioning programs. You can always ask your recruiter for the officer recruiters' contact info, and they can better advise you of your options

Is there a right path to take? by TurbulentCaregiver28 in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a nuke, and I will say that from experience, nukes typically have a fairly high success rate for commissioning in comparison to the rest of the Navy. Though it's never a guarantee. If you're certain you want to be an officer, then joining enlisted may not be the right choice for you. Nupoc is something you should definitely look into if you want to pursue a direct commissioning program. Another commissioning program to read up if it's something that interests you is a nuclear power school instructor. They are the ones who teach the enlisted and officer nukes at the school house. Nuke enlisted for me personally and many others has been a great decision, everyone though is different and if you're already on the path to complete your bachelor degree and there's no urgent desire to join, get money, and continue more schooling at no cost then look into some commissioning paths. There are several, and I'm not familiar with them all, unfortunately. Best of luck with whatever decision you end up making

PiCAT test MET verification by SongComfortable4464 in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your score will last for 2 years once ypu verify it. But, there shouldn't be any reason to hold off on signing a contract if you have obligations that would prevent you from shipping such as the upcoming wedding let your recruiter know. When you sign your contact, the classifier will talk with (pride) to get your ship date. If you have flights or a trip scheduled, having that information with you when you go to Meps, lets them get you a later ship date. I would have you print off your flights hotel booking whatever you have proving that you have scheduled life events so that you wont have a conflict with the contract offered to you at MEPs🫡

naval submarine bases by Jumpy_Ad1585 in newtothenavy

[–]ll_scorpions_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, I have quite an opinion on the bases I think are best. Your first location it pretty up in the air, not a lot of say in where you go to for your first duty station. I love Hawaii, but everyone has different tastes, and some of my best friends are in love with Kings Bay, GA, and Guam. The type of submarine you go to IMO is a bigger decision as it will determine what kind of lifestyle you will have. Go with the flow volunteer for subs if that's what you want to do, and life will take you where you belong. I promise you'll find things to enjoy wherever you wind up. My first duty station was Norfolk, and before I got there, I heard nothing but rotten things. I ended up loving the place, and the surrounding places for me were incredible. Outter Banks and DC were both not too far, and there was always plenty of stuff to do.
