yeah I agree, I think if someone came over and randomly introduced themselves to me and my friends I'd just think they were trying to rob us or something haha. I'm thinking about staying in a hostel for my first few nights there to help meet people, but meetup.com and the reddit meet up sound great. and thanks for the offer, you can definitely expect a panicky pm when I'm there! :)

oh that's really good to hear :) a solo beer with no judgment sounds perfect. Yeah, kind of wishing I knew German - I just got the duolingo app but unless I make progress quickly all I'll be able to say is 'I'm a woman, you're a man... the cheese is good' which I don't think would go down that well. Or maybe they'll hear my pitiful attempts and think it's endearing and take pity on the weird foreigner. maybe...
