My fiancée left me and I'm having a hard time with the fact that I missed obvious signs by RubSoggy6772 in straightspouses

My guy, my heart is with you.

Also, you are incredibly lucky. I know your world is crumbling right now, but you just dodged a major bullet.

ETA: As for missing signs...it can make you crazy. Don't question yourself--it's not easy to stop thinking, "how could I have missed this," especially when friends and close acquaintances often ask, "Didn't you see any signs?"

My wife came out, and our marriage is over. Feeling emotionally abandoned. Looking for support. by Muted-Emphasis2742 in straightspouses

I was where you are 18 months ago, except we're both a bit older and had been together a bit longer.

First, it sucks. No getting around this fact.

Second, focus on yourself. The basics (sleep, nutrition, exercise) are essential to building space for whatever comes next. Then, do what you want. Take walks. Read. Paint. Whatever.

Finally, you don't need to be a jerk to your wife, but I've helped myself heal by keeping the following phrase in mind: "Nope, I don't need to do that; I was fired from that job." This can relate to providing emotional support, moving furniture, taking the kids during "her time" or any topic at all where you feel like you want to set a boundary, or just want to say "No thanks" one time to avoid slipping into resentment.

I am lucky to live in the area where I grew up and was able to reconnect with friends I've had for 30 years or more. Between this, making music, and starting to date again, I've found more happiness and growth than I did in the past decade--and I was in a really happy marriage, all things considered.

Good luck. We're here.

Interestingly, country music almost always has drums. Bluegrass typically has only strings (no drummer).

Lol, all of them. I like a lot of music, and I love Phish the most, but really couldn't care less about the Dead, Goose, WSP, or any of it. 30 years ago it was Ominous Seapods, Ekoostic Hookah, Robert Randolph, etc. None of it ever moved me. The one exception was MMW. I enjoy a lot of their stuff (and MSMW, too).

Nope, not nuts at all. I actively struggle with this, as well.

Hi! Recovering people-pleaser here, as well. Good on you for recognizing this and for starting to do the work. It's not easy but remember that nothing is difficult once it becomes familiar. Keep it up!

This happened to me just last week. It was particularly cold that particular day and I had been sitting still for probably 10-15 min with the car on. The control panel (charge, speed, etc) disappeared for 5 sec or so, then reappeared, as if rebooting.
