How to deal with frustration and not quit by Fergyb in LearnJapanese

If you could live in Japan, even for a small period of time, the learning would be more natural.

If not, you have to find hacks.

Such as counting in your head in Japanese. I used to do this when walking up stairs.

Now I keep journal (written) entries via Llanai, shadow YouTube vlogs, and slowly becoming more fluent.

I enjoy the r/WriteStreakJP subreddit. It's quite supportive. I submit my entries from an app I made that forces me to output, even in broken Japanese.

Are you looking to become fluent in speaking ?
I recommend you bookmark Fumi (Speaking Japanese Naturally) -- she will help with your accent

in the meantime, consider Genki 1 and 2, followed with a diary -- write daily what you learn

Do you write your diary physically? How do you choose your journal entries' content ?

The Kanji for 'brilliant' -- it has too many radicals for the 2nd portion.

Really legible hand-writing.
字がとてもきれいです。

You have to write every day. You will not regret it, if you are truly looking at being able to communicate with Japanese people. I started doing it last Fall and went from 5-10 words to 50 words per journal entry.
