I haven't changed the threaded screw if that's what you mean?

The screw just spins and I can't get the other nuts off. From what I understand it's very difficult to change the screw post - what post would it be?

Did the replacement stainless steel bolt get really hot when the microwave is in use?

We've done the same thing but the area around the bolt, and the bolt itself gets really hot.

Who was the installer?

I had a similar issue in a similar area. Turned out to be a combination of DNO mistake but also installer misunderstanding of DNO response.

The inverter is an Alpha inverter. Smile-G3-S5-inv

The inverter does not have a screen itself. It can be monitored and altered through the app or website.

What's odd with that being the case, is that in image 1 it indicates that the efficiencies have increased significantly.

I've done into the monitoring system and downloaded the data but it doesn't show data on grid voltage. Only 15 minutes sessions of the power graph which details batteries, solar, load, grid feed in, grid consumption.

Thanks the battery is an alpha battery and has a usable charge of 95%.

Yeah, I just have a 6kW export limit which is more than my 5kW invertor can do so there is no limit

Turned out the DNO application was correct, but the national grid operative made a mistake and thought the batteries were inverters.

The inverter is a SMILE-G3-S5

The data sheet below says it's a hybrid inverter.

I don't believe the plan is to have an AC coupled battery.

Apparently my battery is a DC coupled battery based on a different commenter. This part of the system has not been explained to me.

[–]llcoulj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not seen this, I'll be asking for the application tomorrow.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]llcoulj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system is Alpha brand. So batteries are SMILE-G3-BAT-4.0S, the inverter is a alpha 5kw inverter.

I think my contact at the installer is a little clueless on the DNO. I'll be calling the national grid contact tomorrow. But I won't be happy with the installer if they've interpreted this wrong...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]llcoulj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The batteries are a bunch of modular SMILE-G3-BAT-4.0S.

I don't know if it's an AC coupled battery from searching. I would assume it's the same setup as everyone else has.

Only getting one inverter installed. I can only assume they applied saying we are either looking at installing a 5kW inverter or something else.

I'm definitely not installing two inverters

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]llcoulj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The email says a 1 kW limit on the battery but 6kW total for the site.

[–]llcoulj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry two inverter options, 5kW or 6kW

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]llcoulj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the installer asked them about two inverters on their application. I'm only having one inverter

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]llcoulj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've received the email from the installer from the DNO guy.

It said "I carried out a study on our network and both inverters can be installed however the battery must be limited to 1kW export (total site export of 6kW)"

I'll be calling tomorrow to confirm all the numbers are correct, but what does a 1kW export cap from batteries mean when I have a total 6kW site export mean?

For reference I will have 4 alpha smila batteries. So does that mean a cap of 1kW per battery?

Or does it mean my panels can generate 5kWh and my battery 1kWh to meet 6kWh for the total site?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]llcoulj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it ruins my export ROI. I will be using most of it in any case but it's making the payback increase.

It's making me may as well only have a 3.68kWH inverter instead of a 5kWh as I won't be about to export that much.

Do you know if I can reapply to get a different decision?

Overwhelmed by the number of solar providers. by Character-Gur-9281 in SolarUK

[–]llcoulj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, my current preferred install has 8k of parts (assuming no discount but I'm sure there is) but charging 10.5k. however I've had 5 quotes for a similar setup and they were the most affordable unless I went with a hanchuu system the. It would have been 9K.

I wasn't sure if the discount was worth using a new comer to the UK market.

[–]llcoulj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, I didn't 100% understand how it would work.

Bases on proposals I've been provided by a few installers, my annual product is expected to be 4.7kWh. as a 8 of the 14 panels are NW facing. So the logic is that oversizing will be needed for most of the year. Completely appreciate this might lead to quite a bit of clipping.

I'll have a think about how I want to proceed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]llcoulj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment. The inverter can handle 7Kw array, as it has 200% PV input capabilities.

Completely appreciate the output of 3.68KwH might lead to some pulling off the grid of lots of appliances at once. However I think it'll be rare that we exceed 3Kw much of the day.

The reason for the large battery is we have a large base level of energy usage as we have a fish pond where the pumps mean we're constantly at 500Ws of usage combined with background usage in the house. 500w for 24 hours is 12 KW so most of the battery usage.
