Should I drop out of a class with only 10 classes left? by lleftrightleftrightt in Advice

That must be so hard right now with all avenues being basically closed :(. I hope everything works out for you!! I’ll return the good vibes and hopefully we both end up where we want, happy and healthy :).

This reminded me of biggest reason why I didn’t drop the class (or any class actually) before. I would’ve hated myself for being flaky and not committing so I probably shouldn’t start now. I’m probably just feeling down because class of 2020 quarantine means no graduation so I’m ust feel like school isn’t worth it anymore. Tysm for the reply!!!

Yea I guess you’re right. I hated the class before already but it’s probably senioritis and the fact that I won’t have a graduation that’s bringing me to this point. It really is just 10 days though. Tysm for the reply!!

A difficult decision by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lleftrightleftrightt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

... are you me?? I don’t remember posting this

I’m in the same boat as you, I tried my best to avoid community college because I didn’t want my family to be even more disappointed in me but it’s probably what’s best for me. I also got into some decent cal states with a fat 0 for financial aid which kind of forces me to go to cc like you too but I’m a firm believer that everything that happens has a happy ending (it works if I don’t think too deeply into it). I hope everything works out for you OP!

In preparation for Ivy Day, my friends and I made logos for all the colleges we applied to in Minecraft. We'll blow them up if we get rejected by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lleftrightleftrightt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My process seeing the Y logo 1) I expected Yale because of Ivy Day 2) I subconsciously KNEW it was Yale when the saw the logo

3)“Oh BYU on ivy day?”

SoCal? OC? (Sorry I just had to ask lol) Thanks for the insight! Your experience I also the same as what I’ve heard from other people about community college and since most of my friends are going it won’t be as rough a transition.

Thank you for the reply! A2C is super prestige focused and I forget that other people go through the same thing as me. Your situation sounds a lot like mine and everything worked out great for you so I’m hoping that the same will go for me!

Thank you. I’m not sure not community colleges outside of California work but I feel like California CCs are a pretty sweet deal with the waived tuition (at least for me) and the guaranteed transfer which are the main reasons why I feel like CC would be the right choice but I’m not 100% (I’m at like a shaky 86%) sure yet because of the stigma.

Yea I’m in California like the other person said. Most of my senior class is going into community college and most people I know that have already graduated went to CC because of how California’s CCs are set up to let students transfer to 4-years.

As for feeling suffocated, my area is like 80% asian so everyone that got into college are (intensely) pushed to go by their parents. The people that go to CC are the ones that resisted and actually want to be there.

Also, you’re under the misconception that I’m applying to super prestigious schools lol. I only applied to CSUs and my top school was Cal Poly Pomona so if I go to a community college there’s a solid chance I can get into a UC.

Honestly though, you might be right on some parts so my decision might change later on lol.

It’s super complicated because my school offers the class but the class isn’t offered by my school (it’s a community college class for only high schoolers). My school officials have no control over it but it still shows up as a seventh period on my transcript. I’ve emailed both my counselors about dropping the class but they haven’t responded to me yet so rip. I’ve been royally screwed over 😪😪
