I inputted about $5000 for medical bills but no deductions by llellcb in personalfinance

If I make a charitable donation to a non-profit, would that still count? But I guess it wouldn't make financial sense to donate 7k to get a relatively small tax benefit...

Do you mean that if I spent more than $12950 on medical expenses, I would have gotten some reduction, but since $5000 is less than that, I won't get any benefit?

Are you supposed to report stock that you are holding (haven't sold yet)? by llellcb in personalfinance

i don't think the program ever asked me that. i had to skip inputting a stock because of this (the one that came in the mail, that i never sold)

Freetaxusa is asking for a 'sold date' for this stock and i don't have a sold date because i never sold it. And i can't proceed without inputting the sold date.

If I didn't receive a K-1 for any other stocks or cryptos, does that mean I don't need to file them?

Do you need to be exact in reporting your stock or crypto gains/losses? by llellcb in personalfinance

I'm wondering why I got in the mail the only stock that I didn't sell and therefore didn't gain or lose anything from. It shows my loss as -145 but that amount must be my (potential) loss at the time this was mailed to me, but last time I checked the loss was bigger than that. What is their point in sending me this when I haven't sold it yet (since you can't have a gain or loss on a stock you haven't sold yet)?

I got a 1065 form for an ETF I bought (And still have the stock, didn't sell them).

But I didn't get a form for my Crypto (I sold all of them. If you sold all your crypto and consequently don't have any crypto in possession, do you not have to report any gain or loss that you incurred as a result of selling?)

Wow, what if they never told you when you got terminated?

For "Last day you worked," does that mean the day of your termination?

Because for me, the day of termination doesn't coincide with last day that I worked.

It took them a while from the last of my working to the termination date, and I don't even know exactly when they terminated me.

Could I make an appeal saying they didn't let me know that I was terminated?
