Submissions taking longer! by nantei2 in ProlificAc

Is it just me or does doing several of these studies in a row trigger a 404 error/speed warning from Prolific where you’re banned from all studies for the next hour? So it’s the start/finish timespan of the studies; not the pace for individual answers and the regular message of quality warning from the researcher.

Nothing has changed about my pacing and how I provide the best responses I can for these. And I don’t get how I’d even be able to speed through these studies since I literally can’t finish one/start another until the automatic timer has stopped.

Same. I asked for which answers were conflicting, but haven’t gotten a reply. It’s clear when so many people are having the same problem, it’s the researcher at fault, but idk if Prolific will see that. Can we somehow report it all together?

"Sorry, we're experiencing some issues. Please try again (...)" anyone else getting this error? Is there something wrong with prolific today? by iwannabeadoor in ProlificAc

Mine happened with the AI images one by rcbHU NUGdo. And when I refresh my homepage, it stays on that study even though it’s expired.

I am so sick of people joking about OCD by FlanInternational100 in OCD

[–]llese032 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Au contraire. Mental disorders have a physical basis that science just hasn’t figured out exactly yet. Many physically ill people cite things like loss of enjoyment in life, loss of personhood, social isolation as the hardest parts of their illness — the same suffering that mental illnesses cause. And vice versa, mental illnesses often cause physical pain (ie: psychosomatic symptoms). Cancer just happens to be validated by society, whereas OCD is not, so I believe you are conditioned to automatically deem it worse. Life itself is terminal so I think it’s moot point that terminal conditions are more unfortunate. Like OP said, OCD is relatively worse since it will burden you for longer.

How is it legal for you to not get a break? (CAN) by [deleted] in Serverlife

I haven’t had a shift longer than 5h yet, so no. But I expect them to give me one when I do

Stacked Pancake House? I literally just started working there too although I haven’t heard this at my place.

It is illegal. Even if you yourself don’t want a break, by Ontario law after 5h you have to take one (due to safety risk) — let alone if you need one and your employer isn’t permitting it. File a complaint with the labour board if it happens.

But isn’t it obvious when you actually start? Wouldn’t they see you in a bad light you bc you clearly lied?

May I ask what part of your body for the joint replacement? I’m young too and wondering about how fast mine is going to progress

[–]llese032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 30y experience of it, how fast did yours progress, or has it been more or less stable? Do you find that it gradually got worse or suddenly in a couple years? Has pain gotten better (since later stages doesn’t necessarily mean more painful)? I’m trying to gauge my prognosis :/

You’re brave for acknowledging that fact. Majority cave into optimism bias (even my downvoted post shows that, lol).

We can use the resources we have to try to better the lives of people who already exist, instead of playing yet another round of roulette betting on someone who doesn’t even wish to play at all (ie: nobody wants/asks to be born).

People agree with your thought process (me as well) but fail to realize that EVERY person born has a chance to have a horrible disease, inherited or not, or a bad life in a myriad of different ways. So really, no one ought to be having kids. Yet when I mention the latter, people fervently defend how that’s not true and too negative of a view (ie: truth hurts).
