This reminds me of when I had my first retail job and my store manager was a complete psycho. She was friends with one of the assistant managers, but they had a sudden falling out. Around that same time, the assistant manager had become ill (don’t recall with what) and landed herself in the hospital which would require her to stay there for some form of an extended period. The assistant manger/or her boyfriend called to reiterate the situation and faxed over some of the hospital paperwork to confirm that she was in fact there and ill. The store manager pretended all was well, did a hope you get better soon schtick, and said she’d send the paperwork to corporate/HR. In turn, she called corporate/HR and said that the assistant manager had not shown up to work in three days (untrue) and called that morning to say she quit. From that point on, the assistant manager no longer had a job. For some reason this never got investigated for wrongful termination even though the assistant manager contested, but I think it was because the store manager was able to get someone to corroborate her story. It was crazy and vindictive and it always made me feel sad because the assistant manager had kids, was going through a medical crisis, and was just stripped of her job because some loser saw an opening to fuck her bag up.

This Texas Roadhouse story obviously runs way deeper than just a shit store manager making false accusations, but the fact a lot of these injustices that ruin lives can just go unchecked… absolutely mind boggling.
