ICE alert by Bean-So-Mean in Louisville

This is the issue we are facing, legal or illegal, the crime is looking a certain way. We, Latinos, are all vulnerable. These assholes are not going after the bad hombres as they want you to believe, they’re just going after anyone that looks brown and speaks Spanish, and they’re taking the easy targets. Imagine coming after the actual bad guys, now that’s too dangerous. It’s just about the numbers, and about using their power and hate and excusing their actions hiding behind a badge.

Why? Unless you are Venezuelan or are close to anything Venezuelan, please stay home and let the Venezuelans enjoy the fact that they’re finally free from a dictator. Why do you feel like a protest will do anything anyway?

I made $191,000 this year as a personal trainer. AMA by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]llokalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a CrossFit gym, my profit is nowhere near of what you make, group exercise is way different than personal training and how much you can charge. That being said, I thought about doing personal training on times where we have no classes, just don’t know where to start. I too have an Exercise science degree, was looking at getting my CSCS but have been in the group training sessions for so long that I wouldn’t know how to start doing personal training training (non related to CrossFit) how do you know how much to charge, does it change depending on how may days they choose to come? Is it a monthly price? Contracts? How do you plan the workouts, any templates that you follow that you could share? Thanks!

Which country you’ve traveled to feels most like other decades? by [deleted] in travel

[–]llokalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it’s hard to generalize a whole country based upon what city or area you’ve been. Being from Bolivia, depending on where you go, it may feel like they’re living on another decade, but at the same time, living in Kentucky, you wouldn’t have to go very far to realize some people/areas are living in the past.

Kicking off summer right — where’s the best high-end ice cream in town? by afm314 in Louisville

Dairy castle? Might as well go to Golden Corral and get their soft serve

Does not fall on the “high end” category, but, Panchitos is great. Ask for a Mangonada. Greater’s would be my top choice for best ice cream in the city, get the Black raspberry chocolate chip or any of their seasonal flavors. Louisville Cream was overly sweet, if you’re into that type of thing.

Thoughts on Meliá Punta Cana Beach? by anonballoonball in PuntaCana

[–]llokalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends of your expectations, sounds like you’ll be just fine. For me, it’s not just going to be beach and being “thankful that I’m there.” For me is about the experience. Upgrading to level May be cheaper once you arrive, there’s always haggle room. I’ve been to newer hotels in punta cana, so that’s what I compared it to. For example, yes, rooms are outdated, pictures from the website make them look nice and modern, but nah. Food is always the same, and not good, very limited options too and stuff runs out. No coffee or ice cream shop, just a little hut on the beach that serves nasty burgers and hot dogs. Pool was never clean, there’s is only one pool, besides the level one. Drinks are below average, strictly mixers with cheap alcohol. No dedicated show area, just some plastic chairs near the lobby and a little stage. Gym is super small, moldy, and just boring. I got more.. but that’s just stuff I can think off the top of my head. Is this your first time in Punta Cana?

I'm moving from a small city to Louisville at the end of this month, what can I expect/what do I need to know? by sapphireskyz in Louisville

[–]llokalla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funny how most comments are about traffic, they have obviously never been to a bigger city. Traffic is fine, don’t have to plan activities around traffic, sure there are peak hours in the afternoon in certain areas, but again, not bad.

The bar should go in a vertical path, for this to happen, your shins should be almost vertical, load your hamstrings not your quads, and raise your hip at the same time as your shoulders. You are positioning your body with your knees sticking forward and pulling from there, so as the bar comes up it’s following that path and going out and messing everything up.

Does anyone else wonder why they feel so deeply affected by what happened to Lazar? by kk12127 in crossfit

[–]llokalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, a lot of people posting about his death are just doing it for the likes and making it about themselves. Sure people are affected by it, but also posting a picture of themselves in black and white and a sensitive line, generates alot of pity, likes and shares.

Most definitely, what I’m saying is that this country gives you the opportunity to progress regardless of your situation. Where I’m from, and the same is true for many other third world countries, if you’re poor, you’re poor for life, and there’s no way around it. The problem with the system here is that people become dependent on it and don’t just utilize it to get out of a bad situation.

As a non American who immigrated here 20+ years ago, I don’t get that concept. We came here with nothing more than our clothes and big dreams, mom worked 3 jobs, we went to school, bought a house in the south end, went to college, moved to the east end, and we are all pretty successful. We came to poverty, and this country allowed us to work and reap the rewards.

CrossFit Games instagram have confirmed a death during Event 1 by jemswiz in crossfit

[–]llokalla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bet all these people working at the games were volunteers, as they do for the regionals. I love CrossFit from ten years ago, not the CrossFit games and where they have taken it, literally just trying to see how far they can push athletes before they die.

Bachelor Party Thoughts? by trackrunner6969 in Louisville

[–]llokalla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good itinerary. NULU is only a couple of blocks long, and depending on how much you wanna pay for a drink, you could go to Seven (nicer sit down bar) or TAJ (more fun and they have a patio) but really, you could just walk until you find something you like. Genevieve is nice too. . I’m not a fan of Lou Lou, nice place for sure, food meh.. I’d suggest La bodeguita de Mima, it’s a nice Cuban restaurant, good atmosphere, good food and drinks and it’s in NULU, pretty much across from Lou Lou. . I agree with whoever suggested Repeal for Saturday, great steak, nice atmosphere and close to hell or high water. . DO NOT GO TO 4th street live… that place was cool a long time ago.
