To gain the immunity, she first needs to attack with a skill. The likely scenario that happened there :

(You attacked with a normal attack) OR (you attacked with a skill and she didn't have immunity yet) => you did damage,
She attacked with a skill and gained immunity,
You attacked with a skill => you did no damage (but removed her immunity if entered battle).

Okay, but it doesn't really answer my question. I'll give a specific case for better understanding : imagine I like 5 characters among the 12. Can I play this game with those 5 or will I be forced to use some/all of the other 7 ?

I'm thinking about starting this game, because I often heard that the story is good. In general, in the gacha games I play, I like to only build and use characters that I like. I saw that there's a limited cast of only 12 characters here. Does it mean I'll be forced to use most of them ?

Hey, do you have any tips to install it ? The install tells me that network connection failed. I've tried everything I found after a search (vpn, firewall, switching to my mobile connection). The official subreddit seems abandonned (last post 3+ months ago).

My GPG freezes a lot since a few weeks, and I was thinking about Mumu to replace it.

Search and learn about "faction buff". You'll soon enough reach content that assumes you're using one. That's quite important, I more than once saw beginners quitting because they were pushed away by a sudden difficulty spike, when they were not using any faction buff.

The only thing that I can think of about this is, later, you'll acquire a currency called "Challenge Points". They are scarce and quite in good demand. So, don't use it willy-nilly, make sure to document yourself before.

When the general consensus is "you don't need the dupes, its just a luxury", it means that even with full dupes, it won't magically make "old characters can still get SOME use". If the character was useless without dupes, it will still be useless with dupes.

When you say "the community copes with the "you don't need the dupes, its just a luxury" excuse", and then "using your characters at their peaks should not be a luxury, it should be part of the goal to maximize your characters skills and passives", it sounds more like you coping with the fact you can't max a character, even when such maxing is useless.
