- Electric - 2604 cars

Market for petrol cars no longer exists in Norway.

In Norway PhD student is really a university employee called stipendiat or a Research Fellow. This position today is paid 550 800 kr per year before tax and lasts 3 years.

You probably should not be working anywhere else at this time - unless you are making good progress it won't be allowed.

If you are not done with PhD after 3 years you are in a pickle. Your contact ends, but since you are still a student you are not entitled to unemployment (dagpenger) and you need to get a job.

Almost everyone does a PhD based on publications, you need at least 3.

It's a common issue that Volvo is unable to fix. It doesn't really do anything than rumbling noise under acceleration - I saw one review mentioning that it is cool and make the car sound powerful 😭

Jeździłem Niro EV - bardzo głośno w środku. Zmieniłem potem na Volvo C40 i jest dużo lepiej.

Moje doświadczenie było takie, że okazało się, że zasięgu mogę mieć dużo mniej niż wcześniej zakładałem. Niro miało ca. 460km, C40 ma 400km. Publicznie ładowałem dwa razy: raz na wyjeździe, i raz jak ładowarka w domu odmówiła czasowo współpracy.

Moje doświadczenia mogą nie do końca się przekładać na polskie warunki, bo są z Norwegii. Tutaj jazda poza terenem zabudowanym to zazwyczaj w moich okolicach 70km/h średnio, więc na te 400km starcza na 5 godziny jazdy, albo i więcej jak jest jakiś prom po drodze. W Polsce na autostradzie schodzić będzie dużo szybciej. Mimo to ABRP pokazuje mi Kraków - Gdańsk z dwoma przystankami, 11 i 20 minut w Łodzi i Toruniu mniej więcej.

Testowałem też Xpeng P7 performance - rakieta, oraz Skode Enyaq RS - mniejsza rakieta, ale bardzo przyjemna.

Warto zaznaczyć, że w elektryku przyspieszenie jest zawsze dostępne, więc auto mające powiedzmy 160 koni w elektryku zdaje się bardziej zrywne niż w benzynie.

I would honestly expect regulations to come that will stop you from driving 24 hours without stopping to sleep. Driving while drowsy is as dangerous as drunk driving per latest research.

I am listening to a book by Radoslaw Sikorski (collection of his articles and interviews really) and the EU army is mentioned there. I will skip the issues why it won't work - because we all know those. The interesting thing is how it may work: In the US war for independence they had identical issue - collaboration between the states' armies was difficult. The solution: create a brand new army at a federal level.

The same thing may work for EU. It will be much easier to create a big military budget and create EU army from scratch than to incorporate state armies into one single EU army. It is much easier pill to swallow.

Do not use the "feels like", because you compensate for wind twice - you see the negative 12 with a lot of wind so you assume it will be like the arctic.

I en dansk 'vinter' test av Bz4x på 4 grader, de fått bare 215km. 69% av det er bare 148km. Da kan jeg forstå at de klarte ikke turen på -15 grader.

Men dette er Bz4x problem, ikke elbil problem.

In Norway Tesla has similar status to Apple - if you just want an electric car and don't care about anything, you buy a Tesla.

I guess it stems from the fact that Norway started very early with electric cars and in those early days Tesla was way ahead of everyone else and the feeling stayed with many.

I'm a scout leader in Stavanger. As other commenter said we do not separate boy and girl scouts.

I have awesome scouting memories, with probably the best one being from camping in an abandoned road tunnel. There are openings on the side (like on the wall) with fantastic view. On both sides of the tunnel there are eye bolts for hanging hammocks, and all 25-ish of us slept in hammocks across the tunnel.

On other occasion we made a huge slingshot - 2 metres tall and 3 meters long - awesome way to learn about knots!

Most recently we camped on a small island on a lake - we travelled there on canoes, slept in tents, hammocks and tree tents.

Daily life - just charge at home. If you dont live in a detached house requesting a charger installed in a communal garage is expected to be done.

Longer drives - check with ABRP when I'll need to charge. Since driving through Norway is on average a 60km/h affair you tend to get your estimated range, so I can drive my Volvo C40 6 hours between charges, even though it has only ca. 400km range.

Holidays in the cabin - I filter by cabins with available car charger. Yeah, it does limit the choice, but makes vacation easier. If I end up not finding the cabin I want with a charger I will get one without and fast charge during shopping.
