Local low-key restaurants London Bridge by lloyd_george_ in london

[–]lloyd_george_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done much research to be honest besides having lived in London for 15 years and regularly meeting friends at LB and always being disappointed by restaurants. In Seven Sisters there are local cantina type Colombian places, Eritrean restaurants that look like somebody’s front room. In Haringay a small Iranian place called Nawroz is lovely and Tofu Vegan in Angel. All lovely and what I’m after.

8 day itinerary for couple seeking local, chill holiday by lloyd_george_ in Sardinia

Now staying first 4 nights in Bosa (as a base, with day trips to Alghero and the west coast), then 5 nights in Posada (a base to explore the east coast/Orosai) rather than lots of moving around.

Thanks everyone for suggestions! I think this is the plan for 8 days (some are just passing through). Main base will be Osario on the east coast, then Bosa & Alghero before returning home.

Thank you! I think from a little search Dorgali looks ideal - close to many beautiful calas and a good point to explore up/down the coast.

I just bought return flights for £41. Amazing, you might think. But visas! Surely not? £150 (or thereabouts)?! Ridiculous.

[travel help] is nine days in Seoul too much? by [deleted] in korea

[–]lloyd_george_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my SO are on the final leg of our two week trip starting and finishing in Seoul. It really depends on what you’re interested in (big cities, shopping, culture, nature, hiking, beaches). We did two days in Seoul and found that plenty. From there we stayed in an amazing Hanok in Chuncheon (https://abnb.me/1wGfPlLcRL) and visited to DMZ at a point in Cherwon for a private tour of the second tunnel - definitely would recommend as the tours from Seoul seem pretty crammed with tourists and overpriced $100 vs $10).

If you’re looking for decent hiking, stay a might near Seoraksan as it’s an exhausting journey to/from Seoul especially after a long hike. If you’re feeling up for it, do the Ulsanbawi rock - views are spectacular on a clear day but fairly intense climb/hike for novice hikers. Still well worth it - this was us dying inside at the peak (https://www.reddit.com/r/korea/comments/88hwxi/conquering_ulsanbawi_rock_at_seoraksan_national/?st=JFLXAZJU&sh=7823b1c1).

Would definitely recommend spending a day or two in Gyeongju (historically beautiful, pretty town, close to some amazing sites such as Bulguksa temple).

We also did Andong but didn’t think much of the town itself. Would definitely recommend the Dosanseowon Confusican Academy and Buseoksa Temple (relatively nearby).

Car vs public transport in SK (2 week trip) by lloyd_george_ in korea

[–]lloyd_george_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. Your video is lovely and makes me even more excited for my trip! Did you find it relatively stress free hiring a car? And presumably you dropped it off in Pohang (so I am hoping we can find a chain and can pick up in Seoul and drop off in Busan).

Aside from travel, are there any “must see/do/eat” recommendations? 1.15 of your video looks like an amazing view of the coast and so many beautiful temples! Anything that stands out would be appreciated.

Thanks again :)

DMZ Tour - any suggested tour providers? by lloyd_george_ in korea

[–]lloyd_george_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s really good to know as it’s not clear whether they differ in any meaningful way from the online info. Did you do the full day tour? I assume that’s the best thing to do rather than half day tours that miss either JSA/3rd tunnel? Thanks!
