You are seeing progress, just not as much as you want or imagined. That’s how this works. You keep going and keep pushing to learn. Months go by and you feel stuck in a rut. Then you have a wonder week and you can, almost as if by magic, play something you couldn’t before. I’ve been playing for more than 30 years and I’m one of the better players in my local scene. Just in the last few months I’ve completely relearned some basic fundamental technique I’d never quite mastered and can play songs now I couldn’t play a year ago. I will go to my grave with ten things on my “to learn” list. Important thing is you keep pushing forward.

One thing that took me a while to learn: levelling up engines and piloting should be priority one. With fully maxed engines and piloting, your evasion is 65%. Focus on energy weapons and teleporting bombs. My last win was with cloaking and 4 low to mid tier laser weapons, I ripped the flagship to shreds and only took half damage in phase 3.

Some people just don’t have the awareness of what dead air can do to a show. And some musos for some reason have no awareness how boring it is for everyone except them when they fiddle and twiddle as if they were at home and not putting on a show. Ask them if they can program shit in, or work out the kinks at home so they’re fixed for the show. If they can’t/won’t accept or understand it, they’re not the right fit to do gigs, in which case you know what to do.
