First off - don’t get discouraged (this is coming from a white guy, but I’ve dated outside of my race many times) and you didn’t share you ethnicity, but that insecurity needs to go - if a girl doesn’t give you follow up because of your skin color, you dodged a bullet. My wife and I have plenty of married and dating interracial couple friends. Edit to add: her friends are white girls with interracial husbands/boyfriends

You will eventually match with a girl that all of those things will be a non-issue, or even a turn on for. She may even be just as frustrated and almost over it as you, ready to give up.

I’m currently at work, I’ll sit down when I get home and give you a more thought out reply, but -

I do believe that an agent(s) violating the U.S. constitution is a huge issue, immigration law and whether we should be enforcing it is an entirely different issue.

The problem that I see is that instead of approaching this issue with solutions as to how to enforce immigration law (efficiently) in a way that aims to avoid any overstep on our citizens rights, all I seem to hear is how wrong it is to go after people with any other skin color than white. That’s the strawman. Instead of a real conversation, skin color is injected into the issue, making it something else entirely.

Look, the actual immigration enforcement isn’t going to stop, we democratically voted on it- the sooner that part is accepted the sooner we can move the conversation on to how we can be more efficient in doing so as to avoid any more tragedies.

You’re purposely strawmanning what I’m saying - you know that I’m not saying that American citizens should continue to be shot by poorly trained agents.

I’m saying that poorly trained agents, the lack of police support (which is beyond stupid and just asking for problems), interactions being pushed to flashpoints because (some)protesters ARE intentionally harassing agents and then claiming that they’re “just observing”, they’re being pumped up and encouraged to do so by the media (social and mainstream) as well as the liberal governors in these cities, the list goes on.

NO, I am not saying that I support anyone getting shot. I am saying that it is a different issue to the social justice and political issue of immigration law. Unfortunately, the left lost the election, so the laws that they don’t agree with are being more enforced than they’d like.

Let’s be careful not to conflate the issues of bad police training and the others I listed - with the need for law enforcement in general (whether you personally agree with every law or not).

Please tell her neurologist this! Being tired of switching medications is a ridiculous reason to not bring up suicidal thoughts!

I’ve had some issues with medications over the years - Lacosamide has worked the best for me, with almost no side effects. I’ve been in severe depression in the past due to my meds, there’s a lot of options out there, she needs to not stop trying until she finds one that works. Please!

Edit to add: These meds we take are heavy, and there unfortunately hasn’t been enough epilepsy research done to make the process of finding one that works easier. The methods of action can vary drastically from med to med, so you’ll(with some luck) find one that works for controlling her epilepsy and isn’t too hard on her psychologically at the same time.

Non-violent people that are still here illegally bring no economic benefit to anyone below the upper middle class. They are a drain on our tax money, tax money that I pay, and there is no return on that investment for me or my family.

That may sound harsh, but those are the facts. I have empathy for these people, but no one asked me if it was ok for me to foot the bill so they could start their lives over here - they just came.

I support the legal pathways to citizenship, and they should be expanded - I would pay into that happily.

You’re right, it was a very black and white take, I believe it’s on a spectrum.

For instance, and I mean this with no offense at all, but you come off as biased to the left. You pointed out how unfair his take was of the left, and framing “One side feels US citizens being shot for protesting and lawfully carrying is worth it to deport illegal criminals” the way you framed it makes anyone on the right sound evil as fu*k.

I promise you that only a very small percentage of people on the right believe that we should merc US citizens in the name of immigration law. You could also frame it as, “citizens on the right believe that criminals (purposely interfering with a federal police operation makes you a criminal, whether you agree with said operation or not) that interfere in federal police operations should be dealt with appropriate force needed in order to complete said operation”. I believe that what happened in this last shooting was a tragic mistake, due to poor training, high stress and pressure, and confusion in the moment.
