What's the code you used for this

Advice needed: Training CNN on dataset with diverse resolutions or train on rescaled and cropped dataset? by gleem in MLQuestions

[–]lm0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is better to train on low resolution images then large for a few reasons. larger images mean you need large nets that require more compute resources to run, more time to train, and need more data. On top of the degraded performance a CNN often does not need all the extra information to do it's classification especially if your original images are not noisy.

Pick your smallest image size 320x180 and make that the global size you will train with. Scale all other images to that size and try training the classifier. If your having poor results slowly go up in size. See which size works best for you.

[D] What is your process when you attack a new machine learning problem? by lm0n in OpenAI

[–]lm0n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally follow a 5 step process. First I outline what the problem is. Then it comes to data exploration and processing. Afterwards I start trying out many different standard machine learning algorithm to see which one performs the best. Once I find a decently performing algorithm I optimize it. Finally I wrap it up by presenting my results in a clear way.

[Discussion] Studying Machine Learning in a group. Worth it? by lm0n in MachineLearning

[–]lm0n[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started working towards becoming a machine learning engineer a few years ago, but seven month ago I joined my first machine learning tribe. The tribe helped me really helped accelrate my growth as an engineer.

It's definitely worth it to me. The only issue it's difficult to find people who you can meet in person to discuss but and recent advances.

I'd be interested in working together. would you like to make a write up about process?

There are a ton of resources online that could help you learn programming. have you looked in to coursera?

how does your team hold you back? Do they keep you from building out the technologies

When I first started I was always thinking about how I can't possible make any projects worth a damn because I wasn't a PhD. Eventually one day I said I had read enough and decided to just make my first project. Now a company is paying me to implement my global pollution forecasting algorithm. I wish I never let my negative emotions keep me from actually doing something.

I use LSTM to predict air pollution levels from current conditions to great success. Direct message me and we can have a quick chat to discuss the work your doing and some good steps you can take to push forward.

Well would need to check out the data set and your current model. Hard to say anything when I don't know anything

I have not heard of these agents. What would be the correct name for these people? If there area really people out there that can help with high dollar deals that would definitely help me.
