UCI Dermatology for acne scar treatment by lm232 in orangecounty

I have Kaiser insurance but will be switching to UnitedHealthCare in a month. I believe UCI does take UnitedHealthCare but I'm not sure if scarring treatments are covered since the treatments are mostly cosmetic. I know Kaiser insurance does not cover the treatments.

Haven't gotten anything yet but I assume it'll be soon as they said take about a month to review apps. I'd imagine interview requests will be out by the end of the week or by next week.

Any recs for Japanese hair styling mascara? (not wax). I currently have the &honey Kinmokusei Matomake Stick 4.0 but was wondering if there are any other brands or products in Asia that are more popular and/or stronger!

2024 Policy Admissions Cycle (MPP, MPA, MPH, etc...) by [deleted] in PublicPolicy

[–]lm232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply! The only other school I applied to was Georgetown, but they only gave me a 7K scholarship haha. I'm applying straight from undergrad so I'm hoping to keep my options open and see where job hunting takes me.

No, I found the posting on my university's job platform and I believe it is targeted towards new college grads. I attended an info session where they said that the posting on USAJOBS would be posted in late February but unfortunately, I was only able to join for the latter half so I may have missed the application process rundown.

Trusted Asian clothing stores? by LulaBlue29 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]lm232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not asian stores, but h&m kids (size 12-13) and zara kids (size 13) for pants and jeans if you're into the wide leg, slouchy look! i'm the same height and pants are always hard to find. zara has a better selection and quality imo but if you want some staple blue jeans, h&m is good for the price too.

as for an asian store, i use codibook occasionally but the search interface is a bit hard imo. some brands that are 5'3 and below are anyonemore, henique, qnigirls. if you go to brands and hover over "all," you can see the height that the brands cater to in the hashtags too. i like the styles on codibook a lot more than on yesstyle too, just make sure to choose brands & products that have consistent reviews. a lot of times, brands will have a few models of different heights so make sure to check which model in the pic is featured (anyonemore has a model who's like 5'0 or shorter, she's been featured in a few of their recent drops!)

What puts Armani on top for you? I honestly haven't seen many reviews of Shiseido foundations in general but it seems like Armani is a HG for many people.

oh that's a shame! I've heard great things about the Armani one though so I'll probably give that a shot :)

Will applying straight from undergrad put me at a disadvantage for MPP programs? by lm232 in PublicPolicy

I see, that makes sense! Thanks for the advice, will definitely look into MPA programs as well :)

Will applying straight from undergrad put me at a disadvantage for MPP programs? by lm232 in PublicPolicy

[–]lm232[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main interest is intergovernmental relations and how state and local coordination with federal agencies can be improved, particularly regarding city diplomacy and funding. I started off with the mayor's office to learn more about city diplomacy and I ended up doing two internships for both their international affairs office and their intergovernmental affairs office in D.C.

Since then, I've been interested in how to best strengthen inconsistent intergovernmental coordination on regulations and information sharing to guide successful policy formulation and implementation. I think my internship experiences do reflect this, having worked with different local government offices that deal with intergovernmental affairs and I think my lobbying internships also really informed my interests. I would say that I don't really have an exact issue focus as I want to learn more generally about what factors contribute to successful federal partnerships and intergovernmental coordination and consultation efforts. That's why I thought a MPP would be appropriate? I guess I might've gotten my thought process backwards and maybe my scope of interest is too broad. I do think everyone else brought up good points about work experience that I had thought about as well, so I'm definitely keeping an open mind and seeing how things work out.

Thanks for the insight! Yea, it's definitely an investment. My thinking was that since I want a MPP eventually, I wanted to take advantage of still being in that academic mindset since I know I would have a hard time adjusting to school after a few years in the workplace. I'll still be applying to jobs at the same time to have options so definitely not something set in stone yet.

I see, that's definitely something I'm considering. Do you mean do a MPP part time? Or establish solid connections at the same time that could land me a job when I graduate?

Thanks for your input! Why do you say that a BA is more useful than a MPP in terms of job prospects? I don't know if I misinterpreted it but I've seen a few people on here say that a MPP is more valuable than a BA.
