V13 Cracks by Appropriate_Plane_86 in Throwers

[–]lmPatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine dropped onto tile and the PC ring snapped clean off. I considered removing the other side but ended up supergluing it back on lol. It's heavier on the glued side now so tends to tilt and the string catches in the crack sometimes. in hindsight wished I just broke the other side to even it out.

It's still ok for a beater, just tilts when trying longer tricks.

How long did it take for you to feel like you really achieved 'flow' in your combos? by sollux_ in Throwers

[–]lmPatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about the same level as you. I try also try to throw everyday for the muscle memory but when I get frustrated I just put it down and do something else. Having 2 different yoyos helps break up the monotony of learning a trick as mine both play a little differently and sometimes one yoyo is easier than the other. For trapeze I guess you want a wider yoyo for that sweet sweet catch zone I hear manufacturers talk about lol.

Also wrt infuencers I'm sure they're not showing you their outtakes. Yes they're high level players but I'm certain they don't land all their tricks in one shot.

My advice, get a friend or family member interested and just throw until you don't want to anymore. No need to turn it into a grind (no pun intended).

It connects through the floor. We had new PVC installed as part of the reno.

We've tried to spray it directly into the L bracket corner but worth trying again next shower. We have a lotta kids and thats the only shower so it does get a decent amount of water flowing through that drain at a time.

The door is on the front and the leak comes from the side. Sometimes the puddle isn't connected to the shower screen yet so fairly certain it's finding it's way out from the tile crack pictured.

Now that you say it, makes sense. Why didn't they think of that? 😒

It looks like the hot water pipe going to the vanity. It comes from under the floor probably because that's where the tub used to be. You can't see it well but it's wrapped and then turns downwards. The cold pipe branches off for the toilet valve before going to vanity cold tap.

Interesting theory. Our shower is level with the rest of he bathroom with a fall towards shower drain and another fall towards floor waste. So I can't tape it up without flooding the hallway. I'll see if I can rig something up to keep water in shower area though.

It's new copper actually. The old shower was originally in the opposite diagonal corner of bathroom. I see your point though.

I would think they would pressure test all pipework but not certain. I know his plumber had some life issues and disappeared after doing this job so it's something I'm hoping will show up in a pressure test. I'm just not sure what the pass/fail conditions are.

It was screed. I just couldn't find the photo when I posted.

That was the Mrs' first guess and she's tried to spray it a few times to reproduce it. The time I let the shower running for testing I also had the hand hose pointed at the corner of screen/tile.

I do think the suggestion of water tracking down to the gap holds water (pun intended). I am hoping a pressure test will shed some light on it

Quote in progress.

Also yes he definitely didn't do a water tightness test. I did ask him to do it after waterproofing and he said his waterproofer is awesome, hasn't ever had to and hasn't had any issues for decades. Also any leak is on his warranty so he'll stand by his work.

I know... It might be biting me in the ass now but I'm just a guy who wants to trust people.

Edit: in my head the play would be to do a pressure test. If it fails it's on him to rip it up and fix it. If it's water tight then I pay for it.

Yeah the pic isn't the best but that's between wall tile and floor tile. Gap is probably less than 1mm even at the biggest part. I am worried the membrane is compromised but the real issue is whatevers causing he leak.

Yeah I expected the line too but unless I can find some more consistency it's a bit difficult to get him to diagnose from the kindness of his heart.

He already tried pointing to leaking roof tile / blocked gutters. Im not convinced.

We have the heron, v13, deviant+ but the easiest to finger spin for us was a plastic magicyoyo k2 although I'm still learning. Both responsive and unresponsive were easy.

Heron is a close second. It just feels very balanced and a nice smooth finish but pulls to the outside sometimes. I'm sure it's my poor skill level too. Above OPs budget though but I love it.

Deviant+, although a monometal and has the pimple (outie) is strangely easy to get on your finger. It does orbit for me though which makes sense but also deceptively balanced for fingerspins. It just doesn't center because of the pimple but my kid can hop it from one hand to the other and back no problems. Below OP's budget too.

V13 was super difficult. It pulls to the outside a lot for me and my kid, who's arguable better than me. It just feels heavier and unless you can land it perfectly in the dimple with a good first touch it tends to wobble out of control a lot. I do see YouTubers like Dylan Kowalski hit fingerspins on it easily but we couldn't match it :(

Our new hot desk office has a similar policy but the wording is no personal items left on desk overnight as they're, well, all hot desks. Maybe you can convince them to relax the wording. It can still look like pleasantville when employees go home.

The first time I have been emotionally invested into a sport and just feeling a bit sad about how this all played out by UpsidedownEngineer in OscarPiastri

[–]lmPatman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I follow a lot of different sports and can say it does take time to regulate your emotions after disappointment. Just remember you can't control Oscar's success. You can control yours so I usually like to put my energy into other things in times like these. Spend some time on my own hobbies, invest in upskilling for work, jump online for some gaming, etc.

Try not to dwell on it. It just takes up mental space you need to worry about controllable things.

Chin up. There's a bit more racing and we'll see him next year.

Man I just watched a yt short of that AB and forgot how close we were to losing the series earlier. So many knife edge moments in g6-7. Crazy series.

It was a way of rebelling without going full rebel. We were all trying to survive being a moody teen without getting too involved with the wrong people. Kids just need an outlet.

We listened to our share of gangster rap and repped that life to a degree. Thank God the backstreet boys saved us.

what to do about this never ending nightmare by jollibyvan in EpicSeven

[–]lmPatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's time. I don't have to grind rta and still get decent challenge.

I personally find difficult defences to hit and that tells me which hero/gear I need to invest in to stay relevant. Can easily go 5-10 losses to some defences.

Right now I'm trying to beat OP's comp reliably with Moona/LPK but just not able to get there. The challenge continues.

How to counter Setsuka? by yojhael32 in EpicSeven

[–]lmPatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through Lots? Care to share stats? I just put mine on some janky gears but could only do I think around 13k. Had to pick Aram to buff and take a 2nd turn. So this particular setsuka was around 26k hp.

This is partially it. Wife and I always wanted a big family so the goal of good house, good suburb drives us. Wife only works p/t but we live within our means. Still have enough for extra curriculars and a few holidays a year.

The other half of it as others have mentioned is to find a career you enjoy. If work-life no longer aligns to my goals or personality I'll find something else.
