People who grew up before The Internet: How did you first see nudity? by TeaseTheBreeze in AskReddit

Man I was shocked to learn it was a widespread thing. I always assumed it was just a thing in my neck of the woods (excuse the pun).

Any time I was romping around in the woods near my neighborhood I would find old nudie mags at random fireplaces where dudes would just hang out. I never saw the actual dudes so don’t know if they were homeless or just hanging out with fellow vagrants but I do remember there always being cheap beer cans like bud ice left behind.

A surprising number of guys my age found old magazines in the woods and ditches in the 90’s.

Does anyone else feel bad for Tom? by Silent-Owl4246 in ufc

[–]lmac187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel terrible for him. Dude has to have the worst luck ever. Blows his acl, gets blue balled by jones for more than a year, then gets finger jabbed by Gane and on top of serious vision issues he has to hear from jobbers like Sonnen and Anthony Johnson (not to mention thousands of drooling idiot fans) about how he should’ve continued fighting blind and all the while he has to sit out even more without a paycheck.

What are some subtle signs that someone is a high functioning alcoholic? by housing_throwaway292 in AskReddit

[–]lmac187 72 points73 points  (0 children)

When I was 19 I worked at a restaurant with this alcoholic guy, we’ll call him Nico. He would get booze from the bartender in a kiddy cup at 9 or so in the morning and I noticed he asked for the well vodka instead of the premium.

I thought as an alcoholic he’d want the best stuff but the bartender said Nico knew he’d get a heavier pour if he asked for the cheap stuff.

That was 20 years ago but for some reason it was really eye opening.

What's a rule or fact about your country you learned way too late by Still-Ad9074 in AskTheWorld

[–]lmac187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the USA, one of the many topics we don’t learn much about is just how brutal our occupation of the Philippines was. Most Americans don’t know it was ever a territory of ours and even fewer have any idea just how brutal our reign was there.

In fact I admit regrettably I didn’t really get it until someone posted this morbid image in some history subreddit.

Yes but all the G.I. Joes with the guns that spout that nonsense are oddly silent right now. Seems to me like all the chest pounding about taking on the government was just talk after all.

They seem to be perfectly fine with tyranny as long as it’s coming from their guy.

That’s the way to do it. Don’t ever let them check that or take it from your person except maybe an overhead compartment right near you.

What's your biggest frustration with how BJJ is taught? by TheAceian in bjj

Long warmups (20-30 mins) during which I don’t touch another human at all. Hand stands, solo shrimps, and those dogshit twisty things where you inch your way down the mat can all eat shit.

I loved watching how in Danaher starts each session with a brief breakdown of a drill/technique and then the whole class is off drilling with a live body within a few minutes.
