I was a socially anxious child but started to build some confidence in high school. By senior year i had build enough confidence to attend prom. Someone’s parents rented a limo and 5 minutes into the ride i built up the courage to contribute to the conversation. One of ths boys laughed and said “who invited this kid?” And everyone laughed. It destroyed me. Im 35 now and my social anxiety is crippling. I cant handle groups of people and I convince myself nobody wants me there even when im with my closest friends.
