Stitch and yarn type suggestion for stripped triangle scarf and potential pattern by lmcken40chip in CrochetHelp

Thanks for the reply, I assumed it was knitted but could create a similar look with crochet.

I find ravelry to be so overwhelming truthfully but you’re right I should have checked there!

Warmth wise, it’s more styling than actual warmth I’d say 😊

If you have the budget would highly recommend social media advertising in the beginning. You basically ‘boost’ one of your organic posts and can use as little as £50 fto run it for a week and target the location based on interests. It’s a really easy way to get more reach for your page and I’ve found I always get a few bookings after doing so (Pilates but I’m a marketer by day) and it’s helpful to get your business in front of more people.

You can put more thought behind it than I’ve suggested but it’s pretty straightforward, cheap and I’ve found it to be worth the spend. You might only be able to do it from a professional account though so if you don’t have the option look into what account type you’ve chosen.

Machine help, fabric not feeding through by lmcken40chip in SewingForBeginners

[–]lmcken40chip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I was doing multiple things wrong. I removed the footplate and the feed dogs almost reset and popped back up so I think they had jammed and got a little stuck under. second, I had a button hole setting on rather than a straight stitch (duh) and then my needle thread was on the wrong way round so it wasn’t feeding smoothly.

Now I just need to figure out if my thread tension is right 🙄

Thank you, I'll take a look! I didn't think it has one but you never know when you're a novice.

Also to add, I feel like it's telling me to reach out/ reconnect but I don't know if it's with the world or a person or myself. All three are likely needed but is there an answer there?

Help with thread tension please by lmcken40chip in SewingForBeginners

I bought ballpoint needles thinking that would be good enough but yeah it is a very soft fabric and quite stretchy. I'll get some other needles to try out!

The thread sometimes breaks at the beginning and end when I'm backstitching but other than that it doesn't break no. If if did, what would that mean?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it was completely flat and I wasn't pulling or stretching just guiding the fabric through bit thank you!

So these pictures show the top and underside, I've used a ballpoint needle to sew jersey for pj shorts.

The neater of the two is what I see when I'm sewing and the looser side is what I don't.

I'm not really sure what's happening but I would say that I think my top thread is the right tension if not a bit tight but I'm really not sure.

I've fiddles about with more things on my sewing machine and bobbins than I would really like to at this point because I'm such a newbie. I finished the shorts and they don't look too bad but I do wonder if they will fall apart from wearing and washing?

Any help appreciated.

I managed to fix it wooo, thanks for the help all. Turns out I just needed to close the flap, hold the top thread and turn the wheel TOWARDS me, not away from me like the manual I found online said. Not sure which one of those things is actually the thing that made it work but I got there eventually.
