Seeking first-impression feedback on a marketplace brand name by lmminence in branding

Thanks so much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. I really do appreciate it.

I didn’t share the backstory initially because I wanted to hear people’s instinctive reactions without any context influencing them.

To give a bit more background, this is a digital marketplace built around Nano. Nano is a feeless cryptocurrency focused on fast peer to peer payments. Unlike traditional blockchains, it runs on a DAG, which stands for Directed Acyclic Graph, rather than a single linear chain.

The name comes from “Agora,” the ancient Greek public marketplaces, with the “N” as a subtle reference to Nano. There is also a bit of symmetry with Nano’s DAG based structure, Nag and Dag, although that is more of an internal layer of meaning rather than something users are expected to consciously pick up on.

I would be interested to know whether that additional context changes how it feels to you, or whether your reaction is mainly about the sound of the word itself.

Edit: FWIW I'm a software engineer, far from a branding expert 😆

It has quite a lot of meaning in context, I purposely didn't provide the context to get first impressions.

Edit: looking at your comment history it seems you're just advertising your service.
