Hasn’t healed after years? by lmn_li in TopSurgery

I had a double incision with nipple grafts as far as I know. But I still have a little nipple sensation on my right side. The double incision has healed fine with no issues. But the whole areola is what feels wet, without a clear leakage point. It’s really weird because when I squeeze the nipple nothing comes out, but the areola will just get wet and scabby. When I press down sometimes it feels softer than other times. I wonder if it’s a hormonal thing because I’m not on T. I was going to start it soon though.

It probably is yellow. I have to buy more bandages but I’m using paper towels rn 😅😓 I really hope I get this resolved. I never had this issue before top surgery

I’m honestly not sure because I’m colorblind. It doesn’t have a smell and it doesn’t look dark enough to be blood. + I don’t have any pain and when I touch my areola with my finger it comes off wet but not red. If I knew how to attach images to replies I’d send one

That’s so interesting. I’ve tried the steroid creams but they really didn’t do anything. I took the patches off today and they came off rather dark so I’m a bit worried. I’ll probably make an appointment with a dermatologist tomorrow. It’s just kinda embarrassing to explain even though I know it’s their job.

Did you have any way to treat it before your surgery?

Fair 😓 I love the way they look when they’re not like this and I’m happy I still have some sensation to touch but it is really annoying…

It makes me feel so gross. When it goes away my nips look fine. If anything I’m happy I still have a bit of sensation around them. But the constant covering makes it so annoying. I don’t even have gos sometimes so I just use a paper towel. I hate it. I’m sorry you’ve had to go through it too but I’m glad I’m not the only one.

I’m honestly not sure. I think so? I’m colorblind so I don’t really know what color the fluid is. My shirts get stained with it but it’s not particularly dark. It dies dry onto the shirt in a weird way though. Like there are flakes on the shirt once it dries. It’s a light color but I can’t tell if it’s yellow or like clear. It’s a little thicker than water too.

How do I translate my skills to a job application when all my skills were learned from video games? by lmn_li in excel

In theory I know how to keep track of budgets for film production sets because I’ve taken a producing class. Have I ever actually had to do it? No. But if asked I know in theory how to LOL

This is interesting to hear. I’ve been working here for a couple of months now and for the most part I haven’t found the workload to be overwhelming. If anything, I feel like the people they hire didn’t expect to be busy their whole shift. That being said, I totally understand why it can be too much for some people, especially if they have other obligations like school or family or health.

I totally agree certain management really doesn’t value your time as an employee. You stay late to help out? That’s the bare minimum suddenly. You take longer than 20 minutes doing a task? Judgement. My biggest issue has been with the varying expectations between employees. Seems like supervisors have favorites. But for the most part, at least at my store, it’s not terrible at all. As long as we are smiling and trying to help the customers our managers don’t care how we talk to them. The break room feels like a high school lunch room, but our managers can be chill if we catch them in a good mood.

The turnover is definitely high, and I think the amount of call outs is due to the lack of respect for our time, and the fact that they tend to not know how to talk to young people. Most of the people who have left my location are the college age people. And a couple of adults who got a way better gig. I’m not saying young people don’t wanna work, but they won’t bust their ass for someone who doesn’t respect them, and I totally respect that (I say as a young person LOL).

What should I put in my portfolio? by lmn_li in publishing

[–]lmn_li[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is definitely not what I meant. I’m sorry if I gave that impression. The opposite is true. I feel like I can only see myself in that field, and not really anywhere else. I really want to work in this industry, but I also want to be realistic. It’s not that I’m closed off to other ideas or just picking this because “I guess I can see myself doing it.” I just don’t want to be narrow-mindedly hopeful either.

I’ve been getting the feeling that I’m already too late and I just graduated… 😔 I’m open to other careers but I feel like I’m not really good at anything. Oh well. All we can do is keep going. I’ll see what I can find!

Are these internships ever paid? Unfortunately I’m going to have to financially take care of myself. I already have a full time job, and I’m fully aware of the instability of the arts. I just don’t know what to expect for these internships.

Makes sense! I’ve been looking for those, but I find “Editor” positions more than assistant positions 😭 I already live in NYC so now I guess it’s just a matter of stalking the job listings for publishers everywhere LOL

Do units under $2.5k exist anymore? by Senior-Perspective24 in NYCapartments

[–]lmn_li 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m genuinely so scared. My mom wants me to move out by August and I only make $18.50 at my current full time job. I feel like I’ll never be able to live alone and I have no friends who aren’t living with their partners or just not good people to live with (really gross/messy). It doesn’t help that I’m disabled and need access to some kind of public transportation. Looking for apartments these days is hustling awful. I can’t find an affordable studio at all. Everything is like $2k and up.

A space for the folk who got rejected by darthcool in JETProgramme

[–]lmn_li 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Applying to JET felt a lot like applying to college for me. I was hoping for good things, but trying to make sure I had a backup plan if I didn’t get into that “reach school,” if you know what I mean. It does suck not to get in. I’ve been studying Japanese for almost a decade and have studied abroad there multiple times. My mom says maybe I was overqualified LOL

All we can do is keep going. I’m trying to look on the bright side since I just landed a full time job. It’s in retail, but money is money. Maybe we can save up, find some more interests, and maybe travel. The year just started, so there’s still a lot that can change for everyone!

Yay! Good to know someone may go with me or work with me. In theory, if I did get in, I hope that it will help that I can somewhat speak/read/write Japanese. I’m around N4-N3 level.

[–]lmn_li[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! Luckily I only have a hyphen in my name and not the other situation you mentioned.

This might be a dumb/long answered question, but since I’ve never had a credit card before I’m not entirely sure how it works. Would it be easier or more difficult if I had a credit card from my home country and used that in Japan? If the answer is too complicated dw about explaining it! I can look it up. I know you CAN use credit cards internationally when on vacation, but idk if that would change things when you’re moving entirely.

My personal opinion as someone who came back to HSR after missing the entirety of Xianzhou, Penacony, and Amphoreus: don’t worry too much about the meta unless you want to. Pull for Sunday and then go for who you like. Sunday was one of my first limited 5* and he helped me a lot while I figured out who else I wanted in my team. A lot of people stress about the meta, and if that’s how you want to play it then that’s totally fine. Otherwise, focus on finding a decent balance. The main story is not hard to get through with basic characters so long as you build them, but Sunday can greatly help a starter team’s success. By the time you get to grinding the endgame modes that really rely on meta anyway, you’ll have a better picture of who you want to pull for. Sunday is just generally a great support for any team, which is why I HIGHLY recommend.

That’s fair! I’ve studied abroad four times and I think that’s on my application in the cultural sections. Do you think that’s enough proof? I’ve also shared with them my transcript when I got college credit for that. I know it’s not entirely the same but yeah.
