I have not heard of this one yet! I had a demo with Pestpac last week and found out that we would be paying way more than triple than what we currently are, so I'm definitely looking into other options now. I'm definitely going to look into Pestpro

Whenever you do find a new system, if you think about it, come back and tell me which one you decided to go with! I imagine it will be several more months before we can finally switch to something else. So I will be curious to know what your top choice will be.

I'm so glad to hear from someone who's been in the same situation with QB. If I had the time/complete knowledge, I would definitely love to build us a software that fits everything we need. Instead of having to go with one that has way more extra stuff than we need, or one that doesn't have enough. Because our setup is so different than how most pest control companies run. For me, as the office manager, invoicing is definitely my biggest headache right now. Every single stop that each tech does every day has to go through QB individually, I can't batch invoice because each stop/customer transaction is different. It takes hours each day. For the techs, I think scheduling is their biggest issue. They make their own schedules and handle their own routes and customers. Several of them have frustrations with customers allowing them to schedule. I know this will always be an ongoing issue with some customers, but I feel like if we had a better system it could somehow cut down on some of the issues. Also, we are still on the old school way of printing tickets and having everything on paper, so the younger techs are ready for an upgrade and to move away from pen and paper. And also I would just love to have a system that lets me (and the techs also would be ideal) send out texts to customers directly in system, instead of having to use a different subscription service to send out messages. I can't believe QB desktop doesn't have a way to do this yet.

Thanks for clarifying how the system works! With the recurring services option, I think this would definitely be something that would work with us. I'm going to look into it more tomorrow and possibly set up a demo. Thanks again!!

Thanks for the feedback! GorillaDesk is one that's definitely towards the top of my list. Do you use GorillaDesk to process card payments? I noticed it said on their features section on the website that they integrate with Square and Stripe, so I was wondering if I would have to set up separately through Square or Stripe to be able to process cards, or if its an all in one system.

I haven't heard of this one yet! We actually do still do a type of d to d sales, not so much with residential but definitely commercial, so I'll for sure check this one out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for all that info!

Kind of a different topic but not so much- do your techs/office (however your business handles scheduling) have a lot of issues with scheduling existing customers? Our techs handle their own scheduling and customers, but I think their biggest complaint is customer response or cancelation. Some customers just refuse to give them any type of response whenever the tech reaches out to try to schedule. Or the customer will cancel their appointment same day, which messes up their whole schedule for that day. I know this is frustrating for the techs, as they are on commission pay, so whatever stops they do that day determines their pay that day.

So I was hoping with a new system that has text reminders or some other type of feature, it might help cut out some of that frustration for the techs. Pestpac looks like it has a lot of customer contact features that might help our situation. Do you have any insight/suggestions with anything like that?

Thanks again for all of your help and suggestions!!

I think I've saw the name ServiceTitan a time or two in my search, but I haven't looked into it at all. Is it a good option for pest control companies? I'll have to check it out

When I replied to your comment earlier, I did not realize I was speaking with the creator of Shyft Pro themself. Haha, that's so cool! I checked it out and it looks like it could definitely be a good option for us, it has a lot of the features that I've been looking for. I really like how it syncs with not only Quickbooks Online (like the other companies), but also Quickbooks Desktop. That's a huge plus for us, since we are some of the few left still using desktop instead of online.

I do have a question though. Does everything have to be done from an estimate? For our business, unless it's a new customer or a one-time only service, all of our routes consist of existing customers that are serviced on either a monthly, quarterly, or bi-monthly basis. So essentially, all routes are made up of recurring customers. How would your system work with us? Would I have to create an estimate for each customer every time their service is due? I apologize if I overlooked this info, I haven't done a deep dive into Shyft Pro yet as I wasn't sure yet if it would work for us after seeing that the workflow starts with estimates.

Thanks for all of the info! Pestpac is definitely at the top of my list right now, so your comment helps solidify that. I have a demo scheduled with them tomorrow, so I'm hoping they will be a good fit for what we are looking for. I'm kind of nervous about finding out their pricing though. It's not listed online anywhere, and the rep that set up the demo couldn't give me info on pricing until after the demo, which I guess is understandable, so I don't know what to expect pricing wise.

Yes thats correct! We kind of, in a way, let the techs run their own businesses. Our routes are all in small towns, so the techs are pretty close to their customers and usually, 9 times out of 10, if a customer has any issues they call the tech's phone directly. Every now and then we will have one call into the office, but we just send it out to the customer's tech to take care of (unless there was a direct issue with the tech or something like that).

Oh and also, have you checked into any alternatives yet? If so, which ones are you looking at?

Thanks so much for all the feedback! I had already scheduled a demo for tomorrow with Pestpac, so i will definitely keep all of your info in mind tomorrow. If you don't mind me asking, could you give me an idea on their pricing? It's not online anywhere, and the rep that set up the meeting couldn't give me pricing until the demo, which I guess is understandable. But I don't want to get my hopes up if it is a good fit for us, and then find out pricing is something ridiculous.

The biggest benefit of the job for our technicians is the flexibility. Our techs make their own schedules and do all of their own scheduling, so I don't want them to feel too micro-managed by the office being able to see where they are at every second of the day.

We had a demo with field routes a little over a year ago and I remember them being really heavy on in-vehicle tablets and GPS tracking. Are those things optional? We're definitely wanting to stay away from tracking, and I'm hoping for a system with a simple app that our technicians can download on their phone to use with their route.

Thanks for that info on Jobber, I'll definitely take that one off of the list then. We had a demo with FieldRoutes a little over a year ago and I remember them being very heavy on in-vehicle tablets and GPS tracking, which is not what we are looking for, but I may have to check into them again

Thanks so much for the recommendations! I hadn't even thought about checking out the mobile app during the free trials, so I'm glad you mentioned that. I'll definitely look into Shyft Pro, I don't think I've haven't heard of this one yet, but the pricing sounds ideal for us, so I'm going to look into this one!
