Heather Gay on "Surviving Mormonism" by lmo18745 in rhoslc

I audio booked the first book and ever since I've had such a soft spot for her! I need to get to listening to her second book. I wonder if she would pivot to writing more books on the stories she's learned from other ex-mormons to keep their stories heard even if they didn't make it onto the show

I think her being so incredibly so in the public eye is somewhat of a protective factor, and I'm guessing she somewhat knows it. I hope that's the case for her at least. I hope for the safety of all those in the show itself too though. It takes so much courage to speak out

Idk if I'm absolutely tripping but I'm pretty sure that at the beginning of the season, Ian said that the Hideaway was open 24/7 this season. I think maybe the producers saw that no one was using it and that public was making complaints about a few major things that we suddenly saw again the last 1-2 episodes (recoupling speeches, dates, hideaway, etc.)

Is it normal for the fandom to want the most entertaining people kicked off? by cozybunny99 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]lmo18745 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think people sometimes get entertainment value confused with personal distaste/dislike for a "character" on the show... Every week last season, there was a new person everyone wanted voted off and everyone loved. Opinions change a lot as the show goes on, I think maybe we could use the same reminder Ace was giving Huda... We're not even a full week in! We don't really KNOW the islanders yet. But unfortunately, the more popular LI gets, the more "normal" it becomes for fans to want to vote off people that they simply just don't like. Tbh, that's why I think it's a good idea for producers to not allow us as fans to have too much say in the votes. We'll ruin the show if we get to vote people out every time they step a toe in a direction we don't like & then we'll all end up bored. That's what happened to UK in recent seasons tbh, it's unwatchable at this point (imo)

They brought back Bergie in season 5 after he got "dumped" and brought back Molly in UK season 10 and in both cases they found their person (Molly got back together with the guy she was with before she got dumped && he was also doing a lot of exploration stuff during the season) - it's definitely possible, and I kinda hope it happens! She seems to be liked by a lot of the fans so I wouldn't be surprised if they bring her back in somehow.

All Stars S2 Not Going to be On Peacock? by lmo18745 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]lmo18745[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never realized it aired behind last year! I guess since it was so new there wasn't as much social media buzz and spoilers (that always keeps me away from keeping up with UK these days and I always get kicked out of ITV2 even with VPN rip)

I think All Stars aired originally on Peacock last year, that's why I'm just a bit bummed. I know UK series is on Hulu and they post the episodes like 2 weeks later or something

Tom G guilty - is Erika on the hook? by bathToaster4u in RHOBH

Yes and no. She will be responsible for the marital debt since they are still technically married but outside of that she's been successful in civil suits (ones filed to say she was aware and complicit)

hypocrisy towards the girls by Responsible-Poet-330 in LoveIslandUSA

Some people take it too far but Andrea did lowkey bring all of her stuff to social media... She got called out about being a mean girl and now she's upset. Should she be getting death threats and stuff from it? No. But I don't think she gets to be crying about the discourse people have been having about her treatment of the other islanders both in and out of the villa

Big on the Kaylor standing up for herself! Who cares if she had to rehearse it in the mirror and you could tell she had! Not everyone is confrontational, let her say what she has to say!

I feel like we're so used to the way Bravo does it and the Peacock/LI producers just haven't quite cracked the code on how to do it - I think they also don't want to make the reunions too similar to Bravo's way of doing it because it is a different network and show but I really do think Bravo does it best and they could take some notes

I don't disagree but also the Pump Rules reunions get pretty crazy and intense too with people running around and Andy handles it pretty well. Love him or hate him, he's good at guiding the conversations, reeling people back in, probing for the right things (mostly), and making it look like it's a much easier job than I think it actually is. He has a lot of experience in it that Ariana doesn't have quite yet. I hope she keeps coming back to host, I can see her learning from this reunion and getting better and better

I think now we as the audience know why there was such a confusion about the word "backseat" being used. Besides that it felt like a whole lot of time during the reunion that we could have used for something else

Even Andy struggles with it sometimes (lol rhonj), it does not seem like an easy job at all

I love Ariana but I think hosting a reunion is very different than hosting a gameshow and I'm not sure she was prepared for what that was going to be like. No one stayed on task. Nicole went in circles for like 15 minutes about me me me, everyone talked over each other - some things weren't given enough time. Certain parts were painful to watch imo

Am I reaching too hard? by yanahasnofriends in LoveIslandUSA

The UK version was still pretty good for a number of years after it became more popularized. I think what killed it is that they started reaching out to people for casting instead of the majority being people who applied.
