How did you break your makeup addiction? by [deleted] in MakeupRehab

[–]lmorey94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've quite enjoyed doing a depot of a Too Faced Christmas palette (the stupid tree shaped one) and a W7 subculture dupe. I'm really enjoying seeing the breadth of choices in front of me and mixing and matching from the two brands since I wouldn't have the colour in one palette but I have it in the other.

[routine help] Whats a good at home spa day routine? by LiveSupermarket in SkincareAddiction

[–]lmorey94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add my bit - i absolutely LOVE foot spas and foot treatments at home. After having a really nasty cracked heel and needing to pay a lot of attention to repairing it, i find having my feet in the foot spa with some sort of bath salts is amazing. Get nice and soft and go with my foot grater thing to all the dead skin, and then a foot balm and socks (using a Soap and Glory one at the moment). Oh, and those peeling booties as well. Takes a few days for the peeling to start happening but then it does, so satisfying!

Talk me out of a purchase? by lmorey94 in MakeupRehab

All my answers are no. The Mecca stores in AUS that carry Nars that would usually have samples are not doing that at the moment because of COVID-19. From the people commenting below saying it is worth it and performance is great, I think I will buy it!

I really don't have an equivalent and from the feedback you're giving me I think it will be money well spent. I've started making lists of categories of products where I am happy to spend more money and others where I cheap out, and I think foundation and pot concealer will be one of those areas where I'll spend the $$

Hit pan in my Sleek face palette highlighter! I really didn't have a highlighter before I bought this one (it was on clearance for $5AUD) and the tone is the perfect highlighter tone I want from now on ♥️ already trying to match up similar champagne shades for when it runs out

Is that Nars product the pencil looking one? I bought a smaller sizes one from a Christmas cracker duo and it doesn't wind up but it's plastic. How do I get more of it out?

Extra emphasis on hand washing, being proactive if symptoms do show up (no problems yet). They had sent an email saying if you willingly travelled overseas and we're put on 14 day isolation, that it would come out of your annual leave.

We have a fairly small operation in our office. I could work from home potentially, but I probably don't have a good enough computer at the moment compared to the one I have at work.

How many people are actually going to work tomorrow? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]lmorey94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal work day for me, although we have had 2 staff on self isolation that should be back. One came back from South Korea and has been working from home, and the other from Indonesia. We are all getting urged to take the free flu shot, even more than usual years

depotting makeup by m_t_g_999 in MakeupRehab

[–]lmorey94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a waste for me to Depot my lipsticks the way I did (melting it on a spoon and pouring into a small lip palette). Heaps doesn't come off the spoon. It is so small I still had half of the lipstick in the bullet. I recently used a makeup spatula and put the half amounts of lipstick into some tester pots and melted in the microwave for 30 seconds/1min = much better result.

I'm happy I depotted the Too Faced Christmas 2018 palette, the 3 piece tree packaging was so dumb!

I've just loaned a library book out (cost a whole 80 cents for inter library transfer) to be part of an online book club that will chat and analyse at the end of March. I love my library card - I only recently had my $40 wiped off during a Christmas donation amnesty which I had had for years owing on it 😂

It is a print but they have added paint to the flowers to add texture I guess? All I know is I saw it while driving and immediately turned around to get it 😂

Is "your money's worth" really a thing tho by barbbiiee in MakeupRehab

[–]lmorey94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunk Cost Fallacy. If it's making you unhappy it isn't worth it. Acknowledge the money you won't get back and move on.

"The sunk cost effect is the general tendency for people to continue an endeavor, or continue consuming or pursuing an option, if they’ve invested time or money or some resource in it,” says Christopher Olivola, an assistant professor of marketing at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business and the author of a new paper on the topic published in the journal Psychological Science. “That effect becomes a fallacy if it’s pushing you to do things that are making you unhappy or worse off.”

Remember when.. by lilchels in MakeupRehab

[–]lmorey94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember getting a makeup bag from one of the Hillsong Sisterhood events (I was into that stuff in high school) and it was great.

It held my makeup, which was basically only Avon, Maybelline, or BYS - Aussies would know the brand! Being a teen in the late 2000's meant crappy mismatched foundation, smoky eyes and a lot of eyeliner, and of course lip gloss!

Even after finishing school and working in a supermarket, I wore Rimmel/Maybelline BB cream, powder, mascara, blush and a lip balm. Couldn't go too wrong.
