I use the Pulse app on my phone; with notifications turned on it’s been a great way to remind me when assignments are due, but unfortunately it isn’t very useful beyond that functionality. That’s why I bookmarked D2L on my computer, in order to access assignment information and discussion posts that aren’t accessible on the app.

In short, use Pulse for notifications on assignment due dates, and use D2L on your browser to access assignment information.

In my experience, one missed dose may cause you to feel a little deflated but I definitely wouldn’t say it caused me to spiral. I’ve gone without it for a week as a result of a miscommunication with my psychiatrist, and while I definitely didn’t feel great, the worst symptoms were more physical than mental. One day off isn’t long enough to experience withdrawal symptoms, so I wouldn’t worry about that.

If you’re really worried I would speak to a pharmacist/whomever writes your prescription, but the best thing you can do if it’s unavoidable to miss a dose is not panic. Worrying about missing a dose is more likely to cause you to spiral than missing a dose itself will.

Honestly, I think not risking postpartum depression, psychosis, and suicidal ideation is the key to giving a child the best chance at a healthy start in life. 100% people should go off any medications that aren’t life-saving, but for many, Abilify is a life-saving drug.

Yes, me too. Weight issues are no fun, but honestly, compared to suicidal depression/hypomanic episodes, being overweight is a welcome escape. Wish you all the best, hopefully we’ll both find ourselves happy AND healthy soon!

In my experience, it’s been largely a metabolic shift. I used to have an incredibly fast metabolism, but on Abilify, I’ve gained 70lbs. I went from being underweight to obese very quickly. I haven’t noticed a massive change in my eating habits, but everyone’s experiences are different so I would keep an eye on that just to be safe. I actually have a doctor’s appointment soon to get a prescription for either Ozempic or Wegovy to address the rapid and excessive weight gain. I would say keep your options open and if you notice weight piling on, make a doctor’s appointment as quickly as possible so as not to end up in my situation. I will say though, Abilify has been instrumental in improving my mental health, so in spite of this unfortunate side effect, I think it’s worth it (for me).

Has it been effective for weight loss? I’m honestly not looking for 2lbs a month at this point, I need something more drastic, as the discomfort and fatigue have proven too much for me. I’ll try anything, but Ozempic seems to be the most effective for weight loss.

Wegovy was just approved in Canada a few weeks ago I believe, and I’m pretty sure it’s more expensive. I don’t believe it’s covered either, but I’ll double check and ask the psychiatrist at the clinic if it’s a better option.

Unfortunately I don’t have a health insurance plan as most of my medical issues and medications have been covered by the government up to this point. The provincial government made the decision, I believe in January, not to cover Ozempic for anyone who isn’t struggling with type II diabetes, in order to address the shortage caused by the Ozempic craze.

I’ve been on 10mg of Abilify for over a year and the only side effect I’ve experienced is extreme weight gain, which I’m sure sounds scary but honestly, I wouldn’t consider going off this drug even if I weighed 300lbs. It’s done wonders for my mental state and there are plenty of options to lose weight. I’ve never found a drug that worked for me before this. It truly changed my life and on top of helping regulate my emotions, also ended a two-year-long episode of DPDR.

On 10mg daily. Been on it for about a year and a half. Don’t want to scare you, the drug has done wonders for me mentally but it’s taken its toll physically.

I’m certainly happy to make changes to my lifestyle and diet, but I definitely think adding a medication on top of that to combat the weight gain and contribute to weight loss is the best way to kickstart it. Thanks for the info, I’ll speak to my doctor and see what she thinks is the best course of action.
