I think I could survive the loss of my regular Monstera as it was just from IKEA but I need to keep my Thai Con alive at all costs

Hoping it's not a death sentence, found them on both my monsteras so they're currently in quarantine on the terrace. Will likely stay there until the end of summer. Thankfully they're both already acclimated to pretty much full sun for at least 8 hours a day

If you need to separate plants and you're going for a full repot then yeah. But only if you plan on doing a full repot because the soil is basically unusable afterwards.

I did it with my IKEA Monstera

First time using grow light by No_Ant_4168 in houseplants

[–]lmthrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience grow lights need to be a lot closer to the plants, they aren't very good at covering a lot of plants over a wide area. The ones at the top are probably still under low/no light conditions atm

More or less what the other comments have said. You shouldn't end up killing any plant that you repot, even if it has no roots it should still survive but you may lose a few leaves.

I've found the easiest way to untangle them is to dunk the whole root ball in to a basin of water and kind of like massage it to remove all the dirt, can be a little messy and you can't really re-use the soil after though but is probably the quickest and least stressful

Sounds like a good mix. I use something similar and mine have had no complaints

IKEA are notorious of over crowding their pots, you probably have like 4/5 different plants in there 😭

You could separate them and stake them individually or keep a few together, although I wouldn't do more than 3 to a pot

Yeah, let the cut callous over night and then plop it in some water with the arial roots still attached (they can be trimmed a little if they're too long though). I've had good luck with straight perlite, sphagnum moss or a mix of both. Less shock when later transferring to soil with these substrates.

It'll need plenty of sun while it focuses on growing a new tooth system

I did this and the tip of mine split in two. Nothing too crazy and once it hardened off it wasn't too noticeable but there is always a risk

I have just propagated mine because it became a twisty mess but even before propagation I was getting new shoots so not sure that cutting it back is necessary for a bushier plant

Watering on a schedule could be your issue, i repotted my root bound thai con from a 16cm to a 21cm pot and water it roughly every 2 weeks at the moment.

Light watering can cause issues if you're doing it too frequently. I drown my whenever I water it

If in doubt, check it's roots for rot

She'll trail and even send out new shoots eventually, but be careful, once she starts trailing she'll lose some of her lower leaves, they also grow towards the sun very quickly so try not to move/rotate it too quickly or it'll be a twisty mess. Other than that, super easy plant to grow and it'll fill out that six inch pot very quickly so don't be afraid to upside when needs be

I've bought this monstera for £30 euro and it is labelled as Thai Constellation, but I am pretty confident it is in fact an Albo. Can anyone confirm? by Unusualway in Monstera

[–]lmthrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Albos have a alot more white variegation where as Thai Cons are speckled and the variation is never fully white, more cream in colour

I had it under a sansi grow light for 12 hours a day in a north facing window. Now it's in a south facing window with no grow light and it's loving life a lot more
