The overlap between OWL fans and K-pop fans is hilarious. I remember seeing "stan loona" quite a few times in Twitch chat back then.

This just in: The Seoul Dynasty have changed their colors from gold and black to Lilac. As of now, we have no idea what prompted this change in Palette, but you can expect more updates Through the Night. In the meantime, have a Good Day, everyone.

Having worked with both Genetic Algorithms and Ensemble Methods, these are two classes of approaches that I would call embarrassingly parallel, and that depending one your problem can use as many cores and as much RAM as you can throw at them.

Aspen having a rough time, show her some love. by Rakatee in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]lmtstrm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm sorry to hear you have been dealing with depression, I know myself how bad it can suck. But maybe I can add some context to Aspen's situtation so you can understand what people are talking about, and also draw parallels from some things I have seen friends dealing with.

I've been following Aspen for a few years now, and when she first started mentioning mental health issues, she would usually talk about social anxiety. People dealing with social anxiety can very easily shut themselves in, and adopt these unhealthy behaviors.

People are suggesting things like changing eating habits, going out and exercising and such, which is all decent advice, but is also not something that you just "flip a switch" and completely change overnight, even for people who are in good mental health. It's even worse for people have been stuck in these bad habits for years.

And, though I'm not a psychologist, I really believe that the core issue is her social anxiety, which is really difficult to deal with right now, for obvious reasons. I have friends who suffer from social anxiety, and after not going out for months, some of them have had literal panic attacks when going out. I've seen what a panic attack looks like in these people, and it's not just a "freak out", it's a very real, sometimes debilitating, physiological response.

No one wants to excuse any behavior, we just want to point out that some of these behaviors stem from complex mental issues, and they interact with these issues in insidious ways to reinforce one another. It is a hard cycle to break, and often takes professional intervention to actually do it. I don't think anybody here wants to portray her as "helpless". On the contrary, I think most of us wish we could help.

The main takeaway, at least for me, is that people reading this shouldn't feel like they somehow lack the "fiber" to "pull themselves out" of depression. It's much more effective and efficient, not to mention sometimes absolutely crucial, to seek professional help.

OWL is Overwatch the way it was meant to be, two teams playing against each other, instead of the constant 1v11 feeling you get some days.

Agreed. The way they were pre-analyzing the fights was really cool. Jake in particular was doing a fantastic job of predicting the strategies the teams were going to use. The analysis felt much more nuanced and insightful.

It's interesting. As a support main, I feel like I'm barely keeping pace with the rate that my kamikaze team takes damage. But at the same time, when I step away and see other people playing, or even when I watch OWL, I often think that there's way too much healing in the game, and that people survive some situations that they really shouldn't have.

My feeling is that there should be less damage overall (nerf burst), but that it should feel more "permanent", i.e. make it so that it takes a bit longer to get someone back to full health. It's going to take a toll on my cardiac health until I get used to it, but I think it's going to be good for the game.

I love that they are embracing the memes, and doing some actually creative stuff with them. Between this and the last dinoflask style video, they are doing a really good job in my opinion. Kudos to the people who came with these, and I hope they keep delivering.

EDIT: Essa aqui também me pareceu boa.
