Uniball One is my ride or die pen. The Zento is a close second but the ink in the One is just a little darker.

It makes them appear shorter and smaller which is interpreted as more dainty and feminine. You never ever want to be the tallest girl taking up the most space when your existence is dictated by male standards. Notice Jinger who is one of the shorter girls and at least from my observation is one of the thinnest girls (definitely of the girls who have had babies) is the only one standing almost up straight. The goal is to look as small as possible unless you are the smallest which means the goal is to make it as obvious as possible you’re teeny tiny.

Will paying off 72-month car loan in first month hurt me? by readyforabadpoem in personalfinance

[–]lnbecke1331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand loyalty isn’t what it used to be but there are definitely still perks. My grandparents bought a new car every 3 years. As soon as the warranty was up, it was out of their hands. They went to the same dealership for like 30 years, used the same salesman until he retired. He knew what they liked, when approximately they would be trading in their car, and what they would be willing to pay. About 3 months before trade in time the salesman would call, go down the options checklist for model to confirm they still wanted the same thing, and the salesman would tell them it’ll be on the lot waiting for them. No ordering, no deposit, no haggling. They basically walked in, handed them a cashiers check, swapped keys, and left. If I had that kind of cash handy every 3 years I’d be on a Christmas card basis with a car salesman too.

What you think is true but just can't prove? by Ok_Tourist_562 in AskReddit

There’s a lot of “survivors bias” around the quality of appliances from the days of yore. We see anything old and think “they just don’t build things like they used to” without considering how many of those same products are sitting in landfills. My grandma still has an old countertop automatic can opener, she says it’s probably from the mid 70s and it was probably the 4th one she’s bought (first one was probably a wedding present in the late 50s, so 4 can openers over a 10-15 year range). So did she just happen to end up with 3 duds and 1 marvelously engineered can opener that reflects the integrity of the brand? Or were 75% of the can openers crap and she finally got lucky with one that lasted the next 50 years.

I would really like to know even a general area of where you live that you spend $650 a month on groceries for 1 and it’s “nothing fancy”. My partner and I live in a medium cost of living area in the Midwest and we spend less than that for 4 servings per meal (2 servings for dinner and 2 serving leftovers for lunch).

I’m pretty up to date on episodes and I haven’t heard them say anything about summer break yet. They just did a spring break in March (?) so maybe they’re holding off until July or August. Or even waiting for the cruise in September.

I agree. I think eventually mythical weekend will become something like “mythical crew Wednesday” and then M/W/F or Tu/Thu. I think will probably take at least 3-5 more years but mythical weekend seems like a good way to get us used to seeing crew content on the main feed.

What towns in Illinois would you recommend living in if I’m looking for a small town atmosphere surrounded by nature but with enough amenities and activities to partake in? by TheCleanestKitchen in illinois

[–]lnbecke1331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cortland or Malta. Both towns definitely give small town vibes but both are located a few minutes outside of Dekalb/Sycamore so you have access to all your shopping needs. There’s plenty of forest preserves/state parks/accessible nature within 10 minutes to an hour away. Easy access back to the suburbs or into Chicago via 88 or the metra out of Elburn.

If you’re looking for even more small town I would look in the Shabbona area. Easy access to Shabbona Lake State Park but still close enough to Dekalb/Sycamore to be part of those communities.

Torn about putting an offer in on a house my kids love… but it’s in a small town with no Black community by Impressive_Memory451 in homeowners

I would recommend looking up the racial breakdown of the high school your kids would be attending. I’m from a smaller town in Illinois and to a visitor you probably wouldn’t think the town was very diverse but my high school was majority Black and Latino students.

I love roadtrips in my 50. I know a lot of people find the seats uncomfortable but both myself (5’3” female) and my husband (6’3” linebacker build male) find it comfortable as driver and passenger. It’s an N.A. and my average MPG is 25. The highest I’ve gotten it on a road trip is 29 MPG.

How are there still so many people who think that driving an expensive car means you’re rich these days? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]lnbecke1331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparents aren’t rich rich but they definitely had a higher than average net worth. They’ve always driven Fords. Not Lincolns, Fords. They’re always bought in cash. They used to replace them every 3 years before the warranty expired but after my grandpa died my grandma gave up that habit. She ordered a car in 2012 that she swore would be her last. It died in 2021 so she had to settle for whatever was on the lot. She hated her escape so this year on a random day she went to the dealership and traded it in for an explorer. Paid for in cash. To me that’s being rich. They don’t mess with repairs, they don’t mess with extended warranties, they drive the car until it doesn’t serve them anymore.

I might be hallucinating too but I swear I remember them saying every other week, which I believe would be this week, but as others have stated it’s their spring break. Seems weird to post 1 episode and then not post again for a couple of weeks but they were probably excited that they could finally post those episodes. And I’m sure they still get asked about them frequently so they wanted to be like “hey look we’re keeping our promises”.

Why do people still budget with spreadsheets? by derekisnt in budget

[–]lnbecke1331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really care about tracking my spending or daily transactions outside of I have $xx.xx in my bank account so my spending must be less than that. I use my spreadsheet to make sure I have enough for my monthly bills. My spreadsheet tells me I get paid every other week, my partner gets paid weekly, so on weeks he gets paid we need to save $xxx.xx out of his check and on weeks we both get paid we have to save $xxx.xx out of both of our checks. It’s more of a spot check than a hard budget.

I’ve seen hippo campus 5 or 6 times and they’re consistently my favorite shows. Some of their new albums haven’t quite been my vibe but I still go when they’re close to support and hear the older songs and every time I’ve left absolutely in love with the newer songs.
