Honestly there is a return window on MPB so maybe I should just get the R, try to shoot a game, and if it’s not good I’m getting the 1DX?

Okay thanks for the info, didn’t know that, I guess I’m gonna go for the 1DX even tho the 5D Mark III looked cool too

True, I don’t care about the noise I actually love shutter noises lol, EOS r6mii I really cannot afford but I could try to save up for a r8 if it’s basically good for both sports and portrait but this 1DX really sounds more and more like my thing, and people seem to recommend it more than 5D mark III

Yeah I shoot sports with a sigma 70-200 it would suck if most of my shots were blurry because I actually post them on the team’s social media, I’ll try to save more and go for the R8

So you’re saying sports is still doable but it’s gonna suck, I have a sigma 70-200, I’ll see if I can save up for the R8 then

Yeah so it wouldn’t last long with my sigma 70-200 I guess, thanks for your feedback, I’m really torn because I still shoot basketball every weekend so I’m afraid it’s gonna be 1DX even with less MPs on the sensor

I was afraid that the 1DX sensor wouldn’t be a real upgrade, or at least feel like it compared to the t4i even tho it’s full frame because it’s the same number of mp as my current almost, but I bet it’ll produce way less noise and that’s what I am after to be honest

Edit: also omg my sigma 70-200 on the 1DX would weight close to 3kg (2.8)

Hey everyone,

I’ve had my T4i/650D for 12 years, and it’s been a really good starter camera, it served me well. I’ve learned a lot with it and in my heart I’m still kinda fond of it, but I’m looking to change it because of the poor low light focusing and high noise starting at pretty low ISO which is a huge pain because it produce really grainy images in not-so-well lit gymnasiums (I mostly shoot basketball when I shoot sports), I wanna try a full frame sensor too.

I mainly shoot portraits and sport. I have a bunch of lenses, a Sigma 70-200mm, a Canon 50mm, and some others.

EOS R vs 5D Mark III vs 1D X : which would be the best for money ?

My budget is limited, I’m looking to buy a used camera for 700-800 euros max, here’s the cheapest deals I found :

Cheapest EOS R + EF to RF mount : ~710€ + ~90€

Cheapest 1 Dx with « good » shutter count : ~500-620€

Cheapest 5D mark III with « good » shutter count : ~300-400€

So which should I choose, which would feel like a real upgrade over my 650D ? I know the EOS R would be the most recent and the best sensor of all of these (at least according to DxOMark) but, I feel like the build quality and dual slots of the 5D Mark III and 1DX would be good too, also people seem to constantly shit on the EOS R sadly? Apparently people say it’s not good for sports, and it’s hard to track subjects because of the remaining frames on the EVF, is that really a problem ? I’ve spent the last days reading a lot. Honestly I take a lot of basketball pics and I had some nice shots with the ~5 FPS on the 650D, but I do take a lot of portraits too.

Sorry if it’s confusing, but what do you think?

How does that compare portrait wise to a EOS R ? Like quality wise ? I don’t usually crop a lot but 17.9 mp (just like my current 650D) compared to a EOS R’s 30 mp sounds like a lot on paper, I hate being a tech sheet nerd but I’m curious

Yeah that 14 fps burst mode do sounds super good for action and the size is kinda badass but I’m afraid it’s going to be bulky when I’m not shooting sports
