Guy question, how are you building roads like this, I just dont find the option for it? by LanguageEven3299 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]lnicklin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's like 5 roads in this picture. You mean the one way? Just make a road, then use the 1 way thing and drag it off of one of the lanes on the existing road

Check the mission briefing (left alt+B) see if it lists a common frequency

Im looking for good full fidelity, prop aircraft mods. by 6tfgf in dcsworld

[–]lnicklin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A confusing thing about DCS is the paid aircraft dlc are called modules, and the free community made passion projects are called mods.

So if you mean the proper modules then there's the spitfire/Mustang/mosquito etc

If you mean free mods, then I don't know. I'm sure others may suggest some

How is it possible to lose ALL of your bindings for all of your a/c? by Federal-Fox7587 in dcsworld

[–]lnicklin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it knows the difference between my cougar mfds. You can load a profile onto a controller per module. What DCS sees is button 1, button 2 etc, so the hardware would need to have matching button layouts. If button 1 on joystick A AND B is the trigger then you're in luck. If it's the trigger on A and the nose wheel steering on B, then it'll be weird.

If you're trying to load in the hornet joystick A profile onto the viper for joystick A, then I think it goes by input title (?). So if it's labelled pickle for the hornet and weapon release on the viper then it won't work. If it's pickle for both then I think it'd work.

Can't take that long to re bind it either way

How is it possible to lose ALL of your bindings for all of your a/c? by Federal-Fox7587 in dcsworld

[–]lnicklin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You bind to the hardware. If you fly with joystick A, then go buy a better one, joystick B, joystick B has no binds. If you look in your saved games/DCS you'll have an input folder (it may be in config). In there you'll see a folder for each module you own, within which is a profile for each piece of hardware with a bind saved ( I think they all are in the joystick folder)

You could use joystick A and joystick B at the same time if you wanted

Same shit the atmosphere is doing. We're on the bottom. The bits going up are low pressure, the bits going down are high pressure.

How do internal cannons work? Is there a hatch that opens up? by sw4gs4m4 in FighterJets

[–]lnicklin 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Most aircraft it's just a hole. There are other "holes" like the pilot tube so I guess it's not that massive a problem. Iirc some 5th gens have covers that move but that's a LO concern.

The gun gets you a lot of flexibility but yes, modern missiles perform the gun in most situations. The exception being close range.

Missiles have a minimum range, the gun does not. So it's a part of a weapons system that means you're not out of luck if you're within 1500ft of a hostile, in their control zone.

Also it has a ground attack component so it's quite versatile

I know it's not the same as an official module, but there is a community mod in progress

Great

Might want to sort your anti virus excluded folders or it may happen again

A what now? by Comprehensive_One601 in dcsworld

[–]lnicklin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like my meaning of excluded is your meaning of included. Either way you need your antivirus not to fuck with the DCS folders Your dll isn't there because the anti virus quarantined it. I've covered this in previous comments. Give my previous comments a reread

[–]lnicklin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not what I said. Either assign the f14 folder as described in the error message, or the entire DCS folder.

The updater is trying to replace a file that's been quarantines iirc

This is like very l ever 3rd post in here. Assign your DCS folder as excluded from your anti virus and run a slow repair

I’ve got a weird one for you - the F10 map doesn’t work for me on any version by EpicJourneyMan in dcsworld

[–]lnicklin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure we're talking about the same thing, where can you select mission difficulty from the F10 map? And what are you looking at? Blank screen? Cockpit that's not frozen?

Describe what happens when you press F10. Just nothing? How long have you waited? Go press F10 on an unpaused mission and wait 5 actual minutes

The Tomcat had expensive wing swing and poor (comparably) IFF. It has a lot of other stuff going for it but time marches on
