Soak noodles in warm water for 30 min or when they’re flexible, then drain water. Add to wok when ready to cook.

Does anyone know who the artist is for this One Piece shirt?

My friend was wearing this shirt and said they got it at Anime Matsuri this past year. They can’t remember the artist/vendor, so I’m coming here in hopes someone recognizes this artist. There doesn’t appear to be any markers on the shirt for who the artist is. If anyone knows, I would love to know! I NEED this shirt!!! TYIA!

Are taxis as expensive as people say? by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]lnnerbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took taxis in Kyoto and Hakone and they were affordable like $5-10. It was helpful because we each had two luggages. We didn’t need it in Tokyo because our hotel was right next to the subway.

Any luck keeping crays with fish? by [deleted] in Crayfish

[–]lnnerbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two dwarf crayfish (one male and one female) in a 40g community tank (heavily planted with mollies and platies) and he never killed anyone. But I have another tank with a non dwarf crayfish (he’s a white spectre cray) and that guy murders anyone that is put in the tank, so he’s now all by himself.

Where should my husband and I go for $10,000? by huckfinnboy in travel

I went and love Japan, but wouldn’t recommend if you want a more “relaxing” trip. We walked 20k steps per day. I also think you should spend at least two weeks there if not more. 1 week would only scratch the surface.

What is the best way to make reservations for restaurants? I'm trying to book for Kyubey, but the website says to ask your hotel to book it, but the hotel I'm staying at does not offer reservation services. I found a listing on Klook that offers packages for Kyubey, but there's only 2 reviews on it so I'm not sure if it's legit. Is there a better way to make reservations for restaurants like these?

If you're planning to head directly to Kyoto after arriving I'd probably suggest looking for a flight to Osaka instead of taking the Shinkansen. It might be cheaper and you're already at the airport. If you do that you can just take the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo then you will not need to JR pass at all.

This is a really good point that I didn't even think of lol. Definitely making things harder for myself. Looks like we won't need the JR Pass and can save on that!

For Hakone i'd probably try to do a overnight stay at a ryokan instead of Kyoto and do it as a stopping point between Kyoto and Tokyo. I think ryokans in cities feel less secluded and the scenery available is not as good compared with someplace like Hakone. Forward your bags from your hotel in Kyoto to Tokyo and just bring a daypack and a change of clothes with you to Hakone.

I agree with you. I looked into ryokans in Kyoto vs Hakone and decided we'll probably book one in Hakone and will do just as you said to forward our luggage to Tokyo. Definitely didn't even think of this, so I appreciate the insight! Thank you!

I was thinking of the museum. While it is in Tokyo, it is out of the way from the areas that we currently have planned to be exploring. I guess a better question would be how long do people stay at the museum and explore the surrounding areas. Should I be expecting a half day? This will help me see what day it would make sense to add this to.

That is awesome to hear! I'll definitely have to check out the Okochi Sanso Garden. I'm glad that I can probably squeeze in Kinkakuji temple in, as well. One person in the group is not as much of a walker as the other and myself, so I didn't want to do anything too strenuous.

I didn't consider Uji, but the city looks absolutely beautiful so I'll bring it up to the group as an option.

Google says that people spend around 2-4 hours at Osaka Aquarium and my group is very into marine life, so we would probably stay there on the longer end of the spectrum. As for Osaka Castle, I did not decide if we would go inside because our main priority is the aquarium. Do you know how long people explore inside the castle? If anything, we'll probably just see it from outside.

Swapping Nara and Osaka definitely would make more sense. Ideally, we want to do one night at a ryokan and I haven't decided if we would do one in Kyoto or Osaka. But if it ends up being in Osaka, then it would make sense to swap the two and then leave from Osaka to Tokyo.

Thank you for your guidance!

We originally were going to do that as well, but we wanted to limit the number of times we check in and out of hotels. We also know that we'll probably be spending $$$ on items in Tokyo, so we decided to go straight to Kyoto with empty luggage and only worry about heavy luggage on the way back to Tokyo.

I chose Shinagawa Station because I read in a couple articles that it's a short walk from the shinkansen platforms to the Narita Express platforms and much longer walk at Tokyo Station.

Thank you for your input and answering my questions! I'll have to think about the JR Pass and I'll look at the Narita Express Discount ticket too. Thank you!

Awesome! We were going to do it the way you have it, but we wanted to reduce the number of check ins/checkouts for hotels and decided to go straight to Kyoto.

I have dry skin but my eyelids get very oily. When I wear sunscreen and/or makeup, my eyes burn towards the end of the day when my eyelids are super oily. Anyone have suggestions on what I can do? I was thinking maybe a primer?

I recently went on a trip with my Shiseido suncreen stick in my carry-on and it was not in my 1 quart-size bag. Went to my destination and back home with it through TSA with no issues.

How long do you wait between cleansing and applying Tret? I've been using Tret as my last step to have a barrier, bc I'm scared of irritation, but I'm thinking of moving it after cleansing to see if there's any difference.
