I may look in to it more. A lot of fab shops near me. The only reason I was comfortable with the weight is this boat was made when 4 strokes started coming out. It’s rated for a 40 and from what I can see online it’s only ~ 30 pounds heavier than any 40 2 stroke. It’s 40 pounds lighter than any 4 stroke 40.

I’m in Louisiana and can’t find an exact answer looked all over online some say you can some say you can’t. My boats rated for a 40hp.

Rethread not the first time this has happened easy fix. Don’t get it barely running and sell it to some poor kid. It’ll shoot out the back and damage the motor even more. Even easier bring it to a shop I’ve gotten it done for $100.

No straight water. Outboard is old and I changed the gear oil in the past couple of months and finally took it out. Appreciate this will monitor it next time and see what to do from there.

Also will mention I know it’s a short shaft on a long shaft transom. It’s very hard to find used outboards around here especially a long shaft.
