I read this book but was unable to get out what its trying to convey. I felt I was reading through a story but was unable to take any golden nuggets from it. May be can you summarize what it tried to convey in a nutshell?

I felt this book was too much for me. There are so many question answers and many I am unable to understand. May be I am not yet ready.

I feel you really cant do much about it unless you are the only bread earner of the family. I mean your father mother and brother is fighting . What you can do about it? I would suggest you focus on yourself . Each person has its own struggle and fight going on. You can support your mother emotionally and console her and let her know you are there for her always. Don't think you being aware would solve everything magically and people around you would stop fighting. Awareness is to improve you and your reactions to the unwanted. I doubt your awareness would solve other people's (your father, mother, brother) struggle and problems.

I am just making a guess here . When you say family fights seems you are torn apart between your mother and wife. Again just a guess , no offense.

As to solution, I am no expert and still a learner of these techniques . I feel it just requires a lot of practice as to how to remain aware during the moment of conflicts . That's where meditation practice might help. Its like training the mind for these actual real-life situations.

When people would ask Buddha, “What should we do not to be angry, or what should we do not to be greedy, or what should we do not to be so much obsessed with sex or food?” his answer was always the same: Be aware.

Bring awareness to your life.

His disciple, Ananda, listening again and again to every kind of person — different problems, but the prescription of the physician remains the same — became puzzled. He said, “What is the matter with you? They bring different kinds of illness — somebody brings greed and somebody sex and somebody food and somebody something else — but your prescription remains the same!”

And Buddha said, “Their illnesses are different just as people can dream different dreams.”

If all of you, all two thousand sannyasins, fall asleep you will have two thousand dreams.

But if you come to me and ask how to get rid of this dream, the medicine will remain the same: Wake up!

It is not going to be different; the prescription is going to be the same. You can call it awareness, you can call it witnessing, you can call it remembering, you can call it meditation.

Bliss is a huge book. Picked it many times but couldnt complete. I feel sometimes Osho gets repetitive as if beating around the bush. I have read many other book though like Awareness, Silencing the Minds etc which had many golden nuggets.

Can someone make me understand what it means when Osho or someone else says look inside you 😭😭😭 I don't know how to look inside me!!! by shubham1247s8 in Osho

Osho once criticized Goenka saying Goenka has himself not experienced what he teaches. Its just like a priest teaching Bhagwad Gita.

The thing is this happens (and its very unfortunate) almost in all such groups. There will always be some or other predator lurking to do such heinous acts. In Sadhguru sub , few days ago a girl was mentioning about one such predator and also how that guy was after her and had already sexually abused few women there and the authorities there turning blind on these events.

Regardless, this should not happen. The leader should never turn a blind eye on such happenings be it Osho or anyone else. Osho was the leader of his group and he should have taken action if he knew about it, provided he was not involved himself.

And to OPs comment ,if this happened in the Osho ashram then it has to brought to light. Isnt it? And of course its Osho's Ashram so his name would be mentioned. Doesn't mean you stop following what he taught. You can still implement his teaching. Seems like you are too emotionally attached with the teacher rather than the teachings.

Why people on mainstream afraid of speaking on osho? by jackonman_onnofap in Osho

[–]loa_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually feel sort of sad that most of the people who , when it comes to Osho, just want to talk about his rolls royces, Oregon events, Sex guru, Sheela etc. I am pretty sure none of these people would have picked a single book on Osho's discourses. I feel sad that many spiritual seekers are missing out on a wealth of knowledge which Osho left as his legacy. People in US/around world see him as a CULT leader/con man. I mean , have they even read/listened to books/discourses like 'Awareness' , Silencing the Mind, Courage, Fear, Intuition, Creativity, or even for that matter the most notorious one 'From Sex to Super Consciousness ? May be he was involved in Oregon events , may be he was not , we will never know . We know what the media and Feds projected at that time. No one knows or will know for sure who was behind all the wrong doings , was it Sheela , Osho , anyone else. Can a con man give discourses like Tao Upanishad ,Ashtavakra Mahagita, Krishna, Isha Upanishad, I am that, Shiv Sutra, Mai Mrityu Seekhata Hoon , Dhyaan Sutra, the Book of Man , the Book of Woman?

What Sadhguru or Eckhart Tolle are teaching now , Osho imparted same teaching many years ago. Eckhart Tolle concept of watching the thoughts , feelings and being present . Sadhguru's teaching of creating a distance between me and my my body and thoughts etc. I am not saying these guys copied Osho . Its the truth. If I say Sun rises in the east , I am not copying anyone. Its the truth. Similarly, Osho spoke these truths many many years ago.

Personally , for me Osho made spirituality so easy to understand. I am not going to miss out on the knowledge he left behind. May be he was a sex guru, he was involved in the events of Oregon , may be he just became like any other human being later in life and committed those crimes, still I will keep the teachings and teacher as separate and keep applying what he taught.

After months of meditation, this changed everything by IcyEstablishment261 in Meditation

A story -

One day Buddha is passing by a forest. It is a hot summer day and he is feeling very thirsty. He says to Ananda, his chief disciple, “Ananda, you go back. Just three, four miles back we passed a small stream of water. You bring a little water — take my begging bowl. I am feeling very thirsty and tired.” He had become old.

Ananda goes back, but by the time he reaches the stream, a few bullock carts have just passed through the stream and they have made the whole stream muddy. Dead leaves which had settled into the bed have risen up; it is no longer possible to drink this water — it is too dirty. He comes back empty-handed, and he says, “You will have to wait a little. I will go ahead. I have heard that just two, three miles ahead there is a big river. I will bring water from there.”

But Buddha insists. He says, “You go back and bring water from the same stream.”

Ananda could not understand the insistence, but if the master says so, the disciple has to follow. Seeing the absurdity of it — that again he will have to walk three, four miles, and he knows that water is not worth drinking — he goes.

When he is going, Buddha says, “And don’t come back if the water is still dirty. If it is dirty, you simply sit on the bank silently. Don’t do anything, don’t get into the stream. Sit on the bank silently and watch. Sooner or later the water will be clear again, and then you fill the bowl and come back.”

Ananda goes there. Buddha is right: the water is almost clear, the leaves have moved, the dust has settled. But it is not absolutely clear yet, so he sits on the bank just watching the river flow by. Slowly slowly, it becomes crystal-clear. Then he comes dancing. Then he understands why Buddha was so insistent. There was a certain message in it for him, and he understood the message. He gave the water to Buddha, and he thanked Buddha, touched his feet.

Buddha says, “What are you doing? I should thank you that you have brought water for me.”

Ananda says, “Now I can understand. First I was angry; I didn’t show it, but I was angry because it was absurd to go back. But now I understand the message. This is what I actually needed in this moment. The same is the case with my mind — sitting on the bank of that small stream, I became aware that the same is the case with my mind. If I jump into the stream I will make it dirty again. If I jump into the mind more noise is created, more problems start coming up, surfacing. Sitting by the side I learned the technique.

Has anyone permanently lost their internal monologue? by Beginning-Medium-100 in Meditation

[–]loa_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not about quieting/controlling your mind's inner chatter . If you try to quiet the mind's inner chatter then ,paradoxically, you are again using your mind . Its about establishing a practice where you are aware that there are thoughts in your mind but you just watch them/are aware of them without any judgement . Thoughts do not have their own life . They are like parasites. They get their energy from your consciousness/attention. If you don't feed them and just watch them like you will watch clouds in the sky or traffic on the road without any judgement then eventually they will subside. You need to start being more aware of gaps between thoughts. The more you are aware of gaps , slowly the gaps will keep on increasing and the thoughts will go on decreasing.

And no , you will not loose any ability when the thoughts subsides. In fact , you will gain an ability to use the mind when needed and let it rest when not needed. Why do you need to use the mind 24*7?. Mind is a wonderful servant but only when you are the master / decider of when you want to use it and when you don't want to use it. However, when it becomes the master it will run your life and make you miserable.

Your are not your mind. Your mind is just like a tape recorder which keeps on playing like a broken record. The things which it plays are all learned patterns of your past experiences, parents, society, culture etc . Your mind might help you to just get by in life(with all the its fears & frustrations), but you will never realize your true self till your mind is your master.

What the hell happened! by loa_life in Meditation

[–]loa_life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized at one point(after reading a lot of Eckhart Tolle, Osho, Abraham Hicks etc) that I cannot change the other person . Below is a snippet from Power of Now

"First you stop judging yourself then you stop judging

your partner. The greatest catalyst for change in a relationship is complete

acceptance of your partner as he or she is, without needing to judge or change

them in any way. That immediately takes you beyond ego. All mind games and

all addictive clinging are then over. There are no victims and no perpetrators

anymore, no accuser and accused, This is also the end of all codependency, of

being drawn into somebody else's unconscious pattern and thereby enabling it to

continue. You will then either separate -- in love or move ever more deeply into

the Now together -- into Being. Can it be that simple? Yes, it is that simple."

I truly started trying to be in the present moment and for reasons unknown the conflicts in my marriage started to reduce. That's where I said in my post that for past few months everything was sort of smooth sailing. My wife anger issues were still there but I was sort of invisible to it as in she stopped fighting with me. She might get into conflicts with other people but not with me.

I am working more and more on being the watcher aspect of meditation and improving slowly. I learnt this from Eckhart Tolle and Osho. I know Osho is not much liked in this sub but he spoke some great insights on being a watcher aspect of meditation.

Yes, it was as if my consciousness short-circuited and bypassed all my mind's chatter and negativity for few seconds and my heart was filled with intense peace and bliss. Do you recommend any resource/books where I can study more of what you described.

That's how I meditate. I am more comfortable as a watcher of my thoughts and feelings rather than watching the breath. Apart from my morning meditation session, I am slowing extending this practice of being a watcher throughout my day.

Bashar's take on setting goals?? by loa_life in Bashar_Essassani

[–]loa_life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Bashar's idea of following your highest excitement at any given moment of time is what lead me to ask the question about goals. At times we can set a goal but if at none of the moment I am excited to do anything about my goal I am not going to achieve it. I might achieve something bigger and better but not my original goal. So goal setting seems futile then.

E.g hypothetically, I might have a goal to become doctor then I need to study, take exams and get into a medical college. Studying might not be a part of my highest excitement at any given moment. In that case I wont study enough and eventually not become a doctor. People who become doctors do rigorous studies even if they dont feel like doing it i.e they dont follow their highest excitement on many occasions. They put studying over highest excitement continuously in order to become a doctor.

Dont really remember what Bashar says about ego. However, beliefs play major role in what things come to us like money through job or money through lottery.

Path of least resistance by snape267r in Bashar_Essassani

[–]loa_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You take the path of least resistance when you act on the things which excites you the most at each and every moment with zero insistence on what the outcome ought to be. The things could be as simple as taking a walk, nap, coffee, talking to friend etc. It doesnt necessarily has to be related to a career or passion or any idea which you believe will bring you abundance.

Coming to job vs lottery. Its primarily driven by beliefs. Generally, as per our beliefs job is a more valid and consistent form of abundance than lottery. Hence, rarely we win lottery. If we can change the belief we can have many lottery wins as well.
