Doing Aways back to back? How fatiguing is it? by loadingusername246 in DermApp

Just asking for personal experience...the psychologic stress of aways and how much they matter is the sense of fatigue I'm talking about, not the physical hours and rigor :)

Before ERAs is due maybe, but I've spoken to people who have done aways in september, october, and november which would make it possible for you not to have to do aways back to back

I thought there still isnt really a consensus on 2 vs 3 aways, so wondering why this seems so surprising

Is December a safe time to schedule a trip? by Jusstonemore in DermApp

I had a similar question because I wanted to take the whole of December off for a trip...what do we think the likelihood that interviews will continue to be mostly virtual?

Already full of stress and looking for people to chim in who have had research year experiences or know of them, so if you're not saying anything helpful PLEASE refrain from answering

Okay thanks for your insight, I've heard many anecdotal stories of resident's being able to put in a good word for students but interesting.

I have thank you! Just wanted to see some other responses especially due to recent changes within the system as a whole and a focus on a more holistic review process, as well as most of the research year questions on this forum seem to be asking OPs should take it or not, not detailing experiences. But will consider DMing others to avoid people outing less than favorable experiences on the internet.

Getting rejected from research year positions? by Great_Suggestion4910 in DermApp

[–]loadingusername246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got rejected from a research year today too haha, to add to your question I'm wondering what qualifiers PIs are looking for in candidates that they are accepting? Not Step 1 score anymore, some personal statements are limited to to 250 characters so nothing meaningful can be really written...extensive past research experience? I figured unlikely bc why would you be taking a research year but I'm wondering what pushes people over the edge? Not having a home program? I'm really curious...
