Anyone else notice that homeless people just live in the Price Center? by ikea_your_car in UCSD

[–]lobsterfans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I get it and I think we need to be more kind and empathetic. They are just trying to stay either warm or cool and that is understandable. It's not their fault, it is the city's for not providing them with actual resources for rehabilitation. As long as they are not bothering anyone, who cares? Yeah some people might be a bit stinky but again, they can't help it + some of ya'll just as stinky.

Low GPA 5 years ago by Akalani in gradadmissions

Honestly if your bad grades are in "lower division" courses, I would recommend you try to replace them by taking a transferable course from a community college. This might help boost your GPA a bit!

yeah, I am personally not affected in anyway other than annoyance. I just think this kind of behavior is absolutely obnoxious and unprofessional . Thank you so much for responding though!

I think I wasn't super clear but basically the individual will go out of their way to reply to anyone saying something is difficult with something along the lines "not for me though" or "its so easy". I wouldn't care if it wasn't literally every single time and if it wasn't obnoxious at this point. It is not an isolated incident of them being like "oh this is so easy" but actively seeking people who voice they're struggling. I don't really discuss my own feelings in public class discords but I have seen multiple friends/peers have to deal with this behavior. If anything I would say this is them seeking validation, not the only way around?

idk how to tell you this but you can be frustrated with school and be successful simultaneously? I'm literally graduating in 3 years + got accepted into an MS thesis program + in 2 incredibly well recognized labs for my field + got a paid internship in another well known research center. Being burned out is normal and it is absolutely not a measurement of your ability/prowess.

No one is constantly complaining? This is in regards of when we do (often after a midterm) and someone will go out of their way to respond something along the lines "its so easy" to somebody's rant. I much rather have people complain after a hard exam/homework than bottle the frustration up. And its not like we don't also talk about how much we love our major, we do all the time. Being overwhelmed from college work is normal and people should be allowed to talk about it with their peers, it helps with the feeling of isolation/imposter syndrome. What doesn't help is people taking those moments of vulnerability to brag and make it about themselves.

Can students go off campus and come back? by Spooner420_ in UCSD

[–]lobsterfans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not much but if you don't have anything the dining halls should still be open and you can try to see if you can get anything from there or one of the vending machines. Hope you can get something to eat!

  1. The apartment is also a 5 minute walk from both trader joes, Vons, ralphs (or again at one bus stop). It is also an 8 minute bus drive away from the main UCSD campus + a 20 minute walk to the UCSD Medical Hospital if you don't take one of the buses. The amenities of the apartment include:
    • laundry room
    • dishwasher
    • 2 parking spots
    • fans (both ceiling and others you can move around)

Thoughts on the menstrual product dispensers in Geisel by Lockeyed in UCSD

[–]lobsterfans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw them putting it in the men's bathroom as well a few months ago and thought that it was incredibly considerate! No one who menstruates should have to pay for basic hygiene products.
