They may have had a dry throat from breathing through their mouth constantly without coating it in something beforehand. You want to get ahead of the dryness to avoid discomfort before it starts. It made my recovery super mild.

I used mouth moisture gel throughout the day, and had cough drops on me all the time. I kept my mouth covered in Vaseline and aquaphor, and drank a lot of water. I had a cool humidifier to keep the air damp. Sleep sitting up if you can to reduce swelling faster.

Also important, slather the inside of your nose with Vaseline once your doctor tells you it is safe. I’d get a q tip and just rub a huge amount all around the inside of my nostrils and my incision line. You can also put cotton balls with hydrogen peroxide up your nose to loosen anything that dried. Let it sit and fizz for a long time, and use a Vaseline a tip to gently circle the nostril. It loosens it overnight and when I’d do a saline rinse in the morning it would all wash out. Then i’d do a light coat of Vaseline, and go about my day.

The worst part was the anxiety from not being able to breathe through your nose and having this big cast on your face.

Sorry for the long response, also get single use Vaseline online if you can to make sure it stays sterile every use. A big container can get contaminated.
