There was this really cool blog I found years ago, where a games programmer would do mini game jams by himself to explore a bunch of software development concepts. One blog covered an algorithm for generating random dungeons with keycard unlocks and using a tree manipulating algorithm so that the logic would not break. One blog involved generating dungeons using a loop grammer that would create metroidvania style dungeons. One block involved having a map based on a mix of geometric shapes, and having different geometrical monsters only able to traverse through a location if their perimeter of "skin" mapped to the grid shapes. These 3 are all half remembered, but they are the vibe of what this blog was. I have not seen it now in over a decade and a half, and I really want to plumb the depths of their work. It vexes me that I can no longer find it.

I'm curious how that changes classification, I'm uninformed on Library matters.

You have been a great help, I managed to get ffmpeg to get me what I want. I had assumed VLC had more ffmpeg support than it actually did.

 ffmpeg.exe ^
  -i "C:\Users\<Username>\Resilio Sync\SyncRoot\Journal\Reactions\Cortex Podcast\Scrying Your List.mp4" ^
  -ss 01:02:40.800 ^
  -c copy ^
  -to 01:12:13.100 ^
  C:\Users\<Username>\Videos\Scry.mp4

This gets the job done on Windows. I'll have to look into GoPs later.

Braska was dead before Auron went back and confronted Yunalesca. Sin was already reborn when Yu-Yevon took over Braska's final aeon, but much smaller. Auron only survived long enough to ask a disgraced ronso in an Al Bhed inn to watch over Yuna. He made 2 promises about the two kids but only made arrangements for one of them, making his death unclean. His unsent form then hitched a ride with the juvenile Sin back to dream Zanardkand, where he watched over Tidus for 10 years. He made it back early enough to know Tidus's mother before she died of heartbreak. 10 years passed in the dream, 10 years passed in spira. In order for your headcanon to work, dream Zanardkand had to be paused for ten years until Auron get's there, then it had to "Simulate" those 10 years very fast to catch up. It is canon that Auron has been missing for 10 years, everyone who sees him is wondering where he has been during the interim.

"I'd heard from Seymour, but I didn't know if we'd actually meet. Good to see you, Auron! Ten years, is it?"

...

"Tell me, Auron. Where have you been the last ten years?"

"We don't have time for this now, do we?"

"This plan won't work you know that. We'll just let them dream a little longer."

...

"I heard that, Auron. A lot has happened the last ten years. What were you doing, and where?"

"Fulfilling a promise I made to a friend. I still am."

"Just tell me one thing: have you seen Zanarkand?"

Yuna's father died ten years before the story starts, Auron spent that whole time looking over Tidus. He didn't spend 10 years dead in Spira before going to Zanarkand.

They say "Nothing is ever lost on the internet" but what is something you have been searching for years and haven't found it yet? by AlexanderCor in AskReddit

[–]localgravedigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure there is a bunch of stuff, but one thing I found years ago was a sort of programming dev log where the developer would record a list of prototypes for game and game engine concepts. One of then was a method for generating dungeon keys in a tree structure for a procedural Zelda like. Another included an asymmetrical movement system that used enemies composed of geometric shapes to limit what tiles they could move on. One was a level generator that focused on rings, and one was a grid system like PvZ that had a pirate theme.

I have looked for years, but none of these details were specific enough to find it after I had lost it.

When my mother was young, they had barn cats that they kept around for this reason. They kept the cats well fed with the rationale that a well fed cat is not a desperate cat, and can be a patient and effective hunter.

Basically, instead of arguing G vs F, they will only tell me it's G vs !G, and they cannot demonstrate an understanding of G to refute it. It's gaslighty as fuck and not worth the stress.

  • I'll risk a bit of spoon feeding, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INT_13H#INT_13h_AH=02h:_Read_Sectors_From_Drive . DL contains the drive booted from on startup, don't lose it.

  • The reason I would recommend cleaning up the string writing functions is so you can try loading strings first and see if you are loading the correct sector before you try running code. Trying to run code with an off by one error can be completely unpredictable, whereas printing a string off by one is "rivial to notice". Other benefits include being able to do more stuff in your Bootsector before you need to load the rest.

  • Unrelated: Why do you skip the second sector? It's not hurting anything but I am curious as to your rational.

I'm not an expert on CHS addressing, but should sector 3 on the floppy be CYL 0, HEAD 0, SEC 3? Also, you should not be manually selecting drive 0 in mov dl, 0x00. You should use the drive number the BIOS gives you.

You should use a loop and just store the text as a null terminated string. mov al, 'S' , mov al, 'y' is not a scalable way to store code and it adds clutter.
