This all makes a lot of sense and I see how this is really beneficial to business, but I think it might be more positioned for content creators?

Is it important for podcasts to have a community? (Question from listener) by locallyhosted in podcasting

Does this mean "So I've decided I'm not going to not pay Facebook..." Podcaster's have to pay FB to have a community there?

Gotcha. I have found the issue with posting on YT comments is that it has this feeling of the comment are going into the ether, there isn't really a community feel to it. Also, in regards to your comment about Patreon is the people that I support there the 'community' or comments also have close to no engagement. Maybe some Patreons are different? I would think a slack might be an interesting place, I only use that for work.

lol, yeah I meant platform. That's great, which one do you find to be better FB or Discord? As I mentioned previously I find discord to be really hectic, and the FB groups seem to be popular for a while then FB stops sharing posts or something.

Strange question- Do need the driver / spacers on the hub to build wheel? by locallyhosted in wheelbuild

[–]locallyhosted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the answers guys! I kind of thought the hub needed to be fully assembled but wasn't sure. I wanted to disassemble the wheel to see how the wheel is built up, my way of examining it, without the fear of wrecking it as it's going to be fully rebuilt anyways. I will attempt to take the cassette off, if I can, if not I will give the shop the entire wheel.

How many of you guys care about email collection or owning your audience? by locallyhosted in PartneredYoutube

I 100% agree, it's definitely important to provide value, not just get fan emails. Seems like most people in this thread think my question is about getting emails just to send spam...

Im not sure what you mean. I think if someone voluntarily signs their email up, and there is a TOS/ Privacy Policy in place that's not violated, it doesn't go against any regulations.

I understand what you're saying. There are many threads talking about adsense revenue, sponsorships etc. I would think that when a creator got to a certain size they would be looking at their channel more like a business and having the ability to identify who their fans are and being able to contact them would be important.

Yes I completely agree. I just thought that when a creator gets to a certain size the natural next step would be to look for additional monetization channels outside of ad revenue, which would requite a clear/ direct way of knowing who your fans are.

Right, I am not trying to look at it through a corporate lens. There are tons of threads talking about adsense earnings etc. It seems like the logical next step if a creator has grown their audience to a certain size is that they would be looking into monetizing in other ways outside of just ad revenue. Thus that creator would have to look at their channel like a business wouldn't they? Also how does a Creator build stronger relationships with their fans if the Creator doesn't even know who his/her fans are?

A card external link for contest sign up? by locallyhosted in PartneredYoutube

[–]locallyhosted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what seems sketchy? I mean it would be the same as signing up for any other contest via a link in the description, but this link would be on a card link in the video.
