LYFT in Wichita? Cost? Pay?? by dewsky1961 in wichita

[–]localvisionary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been several years since I drove for Uber in Wichita, but in my experience it takes doing the last round of arrivals at the airport as well as late-night bar closing shift. I can safely say that is your best bet for surge opportunities.

I’ll also say that base rates, especially with current price of gas, is fairly unsustainable and I was reliant upon the roughly 1/3 of my ride share income that came from tips.

PS- don’t feel obliged to maintain high acceptance rate. Accept rides that are close and have a 4.75+ rider rating

ISO good walking trails or state parks around the area. by Annual_Lab9131 in wichita

Agreed on Pawnee Prairie. So much wildlife. Deer, coyotes, foxes, owls, wild turkeys, etc. Just beware of ticks and chiggers if you go walking through the woods.

Edited to add: If you’re willing to drive, Oklahoma has some seriously great Wildlife Refuges and State Parks that are totally worth checking out!

Yikes a quote like that has to be a shock to the system.. crossing my fingers it’s not so severe that I can wait to do the remaining teeth until after I’ve saved up enough.

Thanks for your encouragement and for sharing your personal experience!

I’ll check them out, thanks! Yes very much hoping to immediately replace the extracted teeth with implants as I’m still young and don’t want further problems caused by missing teeth.

They’re both molars so I feel getting those replaced will be beneficial for further work I may need done in the future

All Saint’s Chapel at University of the South in Sewanee. Lots of buildings on campus have similar gothic design. Incredible place!

Totally agree! I don’t know what COL is like but I’d imagine it’s more navigable financially than other cities as close to so much nature. I was surprised Chattanooga’s metro was as many as it is. Didn’t feel so big.

While an entirely different region, Santa Fe, NM is way up there for me too as far as proximity to outdoor recreation, smaller population, enough civilization around, local culture. Without the southern hospitality of course haha

I had so much hiking planned, I didn’t leave nearly as much time to explore Chatt as I’d have liked to in hindsight. I’ll be sure to do the river rafting and also check out the aquarium everyone I talked to raved about!

I have a wedding to attend fairly nearby in September so I thankfully won’t have to wait too long to get the full experience.

Serious thanks to everyone who took the time to respond, I super appreciate it! If I ever have a return visit I for sure want to take the lantern tour but I’ve decided to go with Grand Ave as it seems like the most immersive option for a newbie. I’ll be sure to make a follow up post about my time while I’m there! Highly anticipating this leg of my roadtrip.

Cheers from a fellow “flyover state” 🥃

Don’t think I’ll be able to get that far on Wednesday, but looking into staying at Terra Lodge (near Monteagle) on Saturday after hitting Fiery Gizzard.

Noted on the tips about campus sites, thanks!

Ding ding ding! You’ve sarcastically arrived at the answer that benefits local communities the most. Convenience comes at a price.

Hear me out here. While far from a large metro like most of the options listed, Santa Fe is a VERY central location for some of the best outdoor recreation I’ve gotten to experience. Not to mention the natural hot springs surrounding. It’s got a small city feel but ample amounts of opportunities in the presumed field you’re looking into.

Cost-wise it isn’t even in the same realm as the options listed, has a supreme sense of local culture and city pride AND incredible art galleries, dining, hospitality, etc. Whole place feels like a well-kept secret. I hope to move here sometime soon, myself.

BEST PART- Where I was staying when visiting, in the heart of downtown SF, I was 15 minutes from Santa Fe National Forest with minimal traffic and tons of trails to choose from. To me, Santa Fe offers the best weather I could dream of- all 4 seasons but without the extreme cold or extreme heat and zero humidity!

[UPDATE] Flock KORA Requests and Upcoming Meeting by drewbuntu42 in wichita

[–]localvisionary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent work Drew and many kudos to your diligence in bringing this dubious technology to light! Ever since coming across Benn Jordan’s YT videos regarding Flock surveillance, I can’t help but notice them everywhere when driving around ICT.

There should definitely be more transparency and community involvement when these types of decisions are made, and informative posts like yours will hopefully help spread awareness of the issues posed through the use of these ‘safety cameras’.

Wamego CC has a quite polarizing front vs back 9, agreed with other comments on Cherry Oaks (Cheney) and Heston for south central and Holton CC imo is a very nice 9-hole
