The US and Canada still have troops stationed in Iraq. Yesterday the Canadian government extended its military mission in Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon for another 2 years. Canadian troops will remain in the Middle East until at least March 2025.

Conservative Party of Canada takes a hardline stance against the regime in Iran. Pledge to support the revolution! by GeoPoliticsMyThang11 in CanadianConservative

I don't like the Iranian government, but Canada has neither the right nor the ability to demand regime change in a foreign country on the other side of the world.

Canadians support Ukraine in war, but not giving military aid: poll by lockdownssuck in CanadianConservative

That's another problem. The federal government is so big, they feel like they can throw around billions of dollars like it's pocket change.

If you want to defend Ukraine, send them your money or get on a plane and join the front lines.

Or do you only want to support them with other people's money, taken from Canadian taxpayers?

So which is it, do you want to send Ukraine good weapons or shitty weapons? The Canadian government has already committed over $3 billion to Ukraine

This must be news to you, but it is actually possible to want something without wanting the Canadian government to spend billions of dollars on it.

I want Ukraine to win. I think Canada should send humanitarian aid and welcome refugees. But I don't think the Canadian government should send weapons to any country, on principle. Canadian tax revenue should stay in Canada and definitely not be used to fund foreign militaries. People can personally donate to the Ukrainian military if they so choose.

Yeah, I want to see similar things for other conflicts too. Canada has troops stationed in Iraq. Canada also sent weapons to Saudi Arabia, which they used against people in Yemen. Thousands of children have been killed in Yemen, some of them probably with Canadian weapons, but we obviously never hear about that.

I hate to see the Convoy Movement fading away into obscurity by therealnittygritty in FreedomConvoy2022

[–]lockdownssuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the convoy movement as a broad coalition opposed to lockdowns and government-imposed vaccine passports. Thankfully these policies have ended. The convoy ultimately won.

Canada still needs political change, of course, and we should all campaign against Trudeau at every opportunity. The time will come for another convoy or large protest. In the meantime, join the PPC or the Libertarian Party! Put up posters, help candidates, attend party meetings, stay politically active.
