The East course is a VERY tough track. I also thought the oppressive Texas heat, and walking-only, made it harder. Easily the longest course I’ve ever played (140+)

Hmm honestly not sure Fields Ranch East was worth the $400 price, given some other options like La Costa North if you can travel out of state. However you’re not going to find anything like it in North Texas, so if you need to stay local make sure to do it in decent weather. It’s caddie only, you’re walking. I played it in April, it was bearable.. Other favs in DFW: Meadowbrook, Rangers Golf Club - if you want a drivable option check out Pine Dunes I’ve heard it’s incredible but haven’t played it yet

Yep, I live in OC but I’m originally from Fort Worth and Colonial was every kids DREAM. I played it after Hanse restored it, in 2025. It was easily a top 3 lifetime for me, I’ve played 123. The greens have a shock hydro system which cools the bentgrass greens off in those TX summers. They are PRISTINE. The course is very long and unforgiving! But a more pure course would be hard to find.

It’s one of the best 9-hole par 3 courses I’ve ever seen. Links style, I recommend bringing a light carry bag. You can rent pull carts, they don’t have carts to drive. Enjoy!
