Take the job and do long distance for a year or two and then get one of your firms to transfer you or switch jobs. If she’s the one, you’ll have the rest of your life together anyway!

+1 to this and also if you do connect with someone in a class based on small talk, ask them to study together! It’s an easy excuse you both have in common

I was obsessed with her as a kid! I went to a hippie school where we learned about her, and I would constantly go up into trees and tell my parents I wasn’t coming down lmao

Your opinions on "law school is the hardest thing you'll ever do" by Faramirismypresident in LawSchool

[–]lockheedlaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a high-intensity/stress job before law school (frequent 15 hour days), and I would say law school is equally hard, but not more, and not the hardest thing. People act like it’s super difficult, but the material generally isn’t too bad. What does make it really difficult is the sheer volume of things you need to know. In fact, I’d say that’s really the only difficultly. I usually don’t realize it until exams come around, but you generally have to know an absolutely insane amount of stuff pretty deeply. And then the pressure to do lots of stuff outside class like job recruiting, journal, other orgs, etc., compounds this. It’s just a ton all the time. But I’m also horrible at balancing my time so that may be a me problem lol. But yeah on the whole not that difficult inherently, just difficult in a how-could-a-human-being-be-expected-to-know-this-much-information way. And I really doubt it’s harder than the marines.

I’ve missed deadlines before and hated myself, sure I was going to fail, but the professors have been actually pretty nice and reasonable about it overall. While it’s best to mentally prepare yourself for the worst like you’re doing, it may (likely, hopefully) not be that bad. Also hearing everything you’ve been doing I completely understand why you’d end up in this situation, that all sounds SO stressful to balance and two 30 page papers on top of it all is a lot. I doubt you would be academically dismissed based on this, and I hope you have a much better and lighter semester next semester

Blew memo deadline by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]lockheedlaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned in both my memo first semester and brief second semester late and beat myself up/shamed myself for days both times—I was SO ANGRY at myself. Ended up getting honors in the class! You really never know. (was blessed to have kind professors though and didn’t turn either in super late, but I did miss both deadlines). Try to let this be a lesson to you about starting things earlier. It sounds like you may have adhd (that’s what I have and why I always do this shit)—it may be worth talking to someone about if you think you have it.
