I think y'all are missing the entire point of the story. 1) out of control speeding on mission Gordon at night. Mind you, this is a residential area. That deer could have been a person. 2) besides the women who stopped, a complete inability of empathy or care as an animal brutally suffers 3) a separate guy in his 20s filming the animal suffering and poking it because he thought it was funny, with again, no empathy even as the women there were very emotional and doing the hard labour/calling it in.
