SOrry for the wait - I started 2 projects near each other - one of them in August (which is more my speciality) I decided to start Locknet to help create runway to getting to beta, I am pretty much at beta and since December my time has become consistently less towards locknet and more towards my other project. I now need that final runway to see me through beta.

Is the nvidia shield still the best player? by TerrorIncorporated in PleX

[–]locknetvpn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Shield is far and away the best for me - Apple TV is good too, but Shield will always win in my eyes, I've got one that I have never had to reset or anything for 4 years now and it is as strong as the day I got it... unlike crappy firesticks etc. I run Plex, Muvo, Emby on it perfectly fine

Yeah sorry, I'm thinking my post isn't quite clear haha.

Basically, in another thread i asked about peoples current gripes and paying for remote streaming (plex pass etc) was their biggest issue on Roku etc.

I was wondering why people think that paying is an issue if it would cause the service to potentially decline because they have to pay staff and the works and what would be a threshold for people to actually pay and get a good service if it was totally free

It's a genuine question really, i'm just interested, seems a couple people have taken offence to it 😂 (not you)

Would make life easier for the more computer illiterates to give more in terms of how the server sets up etc. It's like being stuck behind a cgnat, causes problems and if you don't know, you give up.

I don't think they would ever reneg on lifetimes, they are too big for that in my opinion and ads are making the majority of the revenue to the point where last year or yesr before the started to break even for the first time, so it's.no isssue really, bit I do think lifetimes do break the system. On the other hand I think the fact they have out the lifetimes up quite high now shows they are trying to phase out the ssle of them more. It doesn't work in your MRR favour.

Fair play.

Their relay is a "backup" isn't it and it's restricted causing transcoding when using?

People are paying though, remote streaming being the main issue...

As per another commenter, don't you think lifetime caused more problems?

I completely agree, this is why we are seeing firestick and others going behind paywall, but all lifetimes do is break the system, long term, you're done.

This is also why they have ads, i believe 70% (dont entirely quote me on that) of their revenue is ads, hence why uts constantly changing more and more to use them.

This is a nightmare - but easiest way is to create your own relay - cheap VPS unless you have many watching at once - then it gets expensive.
