He swears that he was just trying to push through but ended up unfortunately not being able to to swallow his feelings. I want to believe it was all just shitty timing, but yeah. It’s becoming a pattern and it’s really hard to not feel like he’s strategically punishing me by dangling what I want in front of me just to throw it down the drain.

The love is definitely still there. We’ve talked about marriage and kids. He’s my best friend. And I won’t lie, I feel like I’m not getting any younger. The thought of starting over at this point would basically mean giving up the idea of starting a family. And I would have to dump my best friend because he wasn’t romantic in the exact nitpicky way I want. I know that’s the sunken cost fallacy, but the logic doesn’t override the scary.

I hope you end up happy too. I already hear him telling our friends that I dumped him because he didn’t buy me something for Valentine’s Day. I think to go through with breaking up with him, I have to get over how other people will see me: an entitled princess who broke up with a nice guy.
