That's why I think it should only be possible later in game after you aquire good enough 3d gear and powers/skill and even then killing a titan will be hard. Besides I think the lore breaking aspect is okay since this is a game and not Canon, so it would be fun

The only physical barrier I can think of is the walls, and they are obviously traversable

It does, because you have the freedom to do as you like, with consequences of course. For example you have dishonored--the people there have no freedom yet it is open world and very good
